See... but Luke escaped. Now, which Luke do you want escaping? Good Luke or Bad Luke? Therefore, it did matter. If he would have been blown up, it would not have mattered.
I like Star Wars. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

just remember, if you happen to know when the enemy commander is going to be at his superpowered yet still overly vulnerable new weapon.
it's probably a trap

The true "...one who would bring balance to the force." was, in fact, Anakin/Vader. In Episode 3, he balanced things down to 2 Jedi (Yoda and Kenobi) and 2 Sith (Himself and Sidious). Sounds like perfect balance.
I am so nerdy...

I think I might be the only person on earth who has never watched a Star Wars movie all the way through. Except for Episode 1 or whatever it was called... which sucked balls beyond all comprehension.
During the movie, I kept looking around at the people around me wondering if we were all watching the same movie, and if we were, why people hadn't started throwing rotten tomatoes at the screen. The acting was Skinemax-bad and there were about 15,000 extraneous characters and subplots.

Yeah, but how can old biff steal the time machine, change the past, then return to marty and doc's timeline in the future?
and how can marty and jennifer see themselves in the future if they left the past. there is no version of them to grow old and live in the future, that version left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fun fact: talking about star wars on the internet renders your genitalia completely useless. the process is permanent and irreparable.

incorrect.
The true balance of the force hung in the battle between Darth & Luke. Had Luke failed, so would the rebels, and the death star would have stayed intact. That is the whole point and theme of the entire trilogy. Do you not get that?
-----------
That is what I thought the theme was, but watch it again.
Luke, Darth, the Emperor weren't doing shit on Endor when the shield came down and wouldn't have had time to do shit if they were to turn Luke dark.

i disagree, on multiple points.
First, the forest moon was the shield generator. Han had to take out the shield before the death star could be destroyed. Luke was on the forest moon at the time, taking out several storm troopers in the process. Without Mark Hamill's brilliant acting, the e-woks would have just made a mess of everything. They would have roasted Han and Chewbacca and feasted on their flesh.
The ewoks had to be contained and organized. Luke did that via jedi mind trick. Do you know how to jedi mind trick? I didn't think so.
Without Luke on Endor, C3PO would have never been worshiped as a god; Han, Chewie, and Luke would have been roasted, and the Empire would have risen as triumphant, the last words of Admiral Ackbar being...
"It's a trap! Mayday, mayday! We're going....(EXPLODE)
So obviously your theory is total shit.
------------------------
Luke's force abilities did help on Endor, but with better planning they wouldn't have needed him. And when he traveled to the death star the shield was still up.
But you are missing my main point. It didn't matter if he stayed good, or turned bad. The balance of the force didn't matter because the death star was going to get blown up and if luke stayed and became evil he would have been blasted as well.
The real Hero was Ackbar, Lando and the bothan spies who got the info. Who got no credit because they were a fucking fish, a black man and bothans. Even the rebels were racists.
