China is the cash erection of the future. Get this, Americans? You ready? This country is dwindling away economically and if you aren't aware the markets to have a financial foothold are the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). Out of these four countries I'm paying special attention to the pan heads.

Quick joke: A Chinese man was skipping stones on a special pond one day when a black man came up and asked him what he was doing. The Chinese man replied that he was talking to his family by an ancient ritual. "How?" The black man asked. The Chinese man told him to watch and he skipped a stone across the pond and he heard "Ching-Chang-Chong." After the black man asked the Chinese man explained that Ching was his late father, Chang was his grandfather, and Chong was his great grandfather. After several minutes the black man decided to skip a stone when the distinct sound resonated: "Chim-Pan-Zee."

I find myself completely addicted to the stock market, legalized gambling if you will, and have taken to playing with it on almost a daily basis. I'm sinking money each week into my Scottrade account and trying to make the right pick to insure that I'm veritable investor. I'm looking mostly at long term investment seeing how I'm only 25 and am saving dilligently to dump money into mutual funds. Mutual funds are the especially smart way to invest because the return rates, dividend re-invest options, and general security within the fund.

Latin American markets are still able to be whored out but they are going to start to plateau before long and have small, incremental increases. That's why you have to start looking at the chinks and their mutual funds, some of which you can still get in on the ground floor.

I'm also looking into investing within the Taiwanese market seeing how they are having a Presidential change shortly with high economical ties as primary goals for both bidding parties. What this means is that their will be more flights, shipping, importing, exporting, etc. between China and Taiwan. There will also be an increase between the ties in Taiwan and the U.S. (which means cheaper product in the U.S. but less jobs, blah blah). I just dropped some money on an ETF (exchange traded fund) today which has some potential. The fund is a little over 5 years old, ticker symbol EWT and I'm hoping it will steadily increase at an incremental rate over the course of the next 10-30 years.

Why invest in China?

Great question! I'm taking this on account of a source of mine (my brother) that China's infrastructure and economical plans for the next 20 years will place them as the stronghold of the world's economy. Their inflation is increasing at a rate that is double ours which has brought nearly 300 million people out of "poverty." America will no longer have the financial backing to be the World Police.

Here's some of the interesting things that you may want to take note of:

*Plans to build ~45 new nuclear power plants by 2010

*Plans to build ~25 new airports by 2010

*Plans to build nearly 55,000 miles of new roadways by 2010

*30% of all concrete sales globally are within China

*Raw building materials (steel, iron, timber, etc.) are imported into China more than any other country.

I could continue but I don't really give a shit about any of you enough to care if you follow in my footsteps or not. I'm sure that you could argue against this and to be honest I'm not economically wise enough to hear about P/E's, Bollinger Bands, Parabolic SAR's, and all the other nonsense. It may be foolish--and I have lost a few times--but I take financial advise from a Vice President of Variable Annuity Wholesales. That dude told me to get in on BPZ Resources and I waited...now I'm kicking myself in the dick because I could've bought in at ~$13.00/share. Take a look. He told me to buy a little over a month ago: http://finance.google.com/finance?q=bzp&hl=en

I guess what this boils down to is that I think I have a hobby, a genuine interest in doing something with what little money I have, and trying to build a future. For the first time in ages I feel dedicated to myself, as selfish as it may sound, and my well being. I'm passionate about investing as of recently. It sickens me to see people my age more worried about what TV they are going to buy, what new outfit they are going to get, what car they "need," instead of worrying about their economic future. I'll be aghast and will eat my dick if social security is around when I need it.

I've got a well diversified IRA, trading account, mutual funds which allow me to feel as though I have a comfy cushion to fall back on if I ever need it, even now.

I didn't edit, spellcheck, or really give a shit. Have a good weekend.

Oh...and don't you love the stupid tricks that whores do? I sure do.

god bless all whores.gif (1 MB)

It already IS happening, genius. My previous employer started shipping grunt work over there ten years ago.

The fun thing about China is that it's a fucking huge country with tons of pollution.

Few things:

Eventually wages are going to go up in China and corps are going to run to someplace cheaper- happened in Mexico and it will happen in China.

Chinese are just begging to have another friendly neighborhood revolution. Repressive government, starvation, bad healthcare...

Piracy of technology makes many tech companies terrified at the idea of moving over there.

Aging population. Thanks to population controls, the average age of the population is getting older and older. This could mean a much smaller workforce available in 10-20 years.

When the Chinese government finally stops keeping the currency artificially low, Chinese products are going to get significantly more expensive. And yes, they will eventually have to loosen controls on the currency due to international pressure.

Good luck with that.

And yeah, Social Security is going to be long gone by the time we get old enough to actually use it. Pity.

I should start investing now, but it's going to have to wait until I finish college- tuition's a bitch.

i can understand a fear that america might lose some feathers, but i don't understand this fascination and fear of China. as if it was only ten years away from being the ultimate world ruler.

the US is still pretty far ahead and so is the EU for that matter. they have a shitload of obstacles before they make it there and people make dumbass predictions. like the ones made not so long ago that we'd be flying around like the Jetsons in the 21st century.

In the old days, they would have eaten the local emperor. In modern times, I'm sure they'll settle for a good old fashioned revolution. Personal ethics are one of the reasons I won't invest in them. Enough of my consumer dollars are already siphoned into their substandard and often recalled parts.

If they're Chinese? Heh. About as much as 5 people from any other part of the globe. I've always assumed it has something to do with the fact that they're being grossly underpaid, treated like particularly slow children, and not being trained in any way. Our corporation used to have 400 people in the Hong Kong office. We had to pull all but 12 of the jobs because they couldn't seem to follow simple work instructions or figure out how to burn a CD. Our IT Administrator on that end brought the local LAN down twice because he forgot about root priviledge rules on the domain controller.

Yup. I don't know what people say about Brazil, but Venezuela is a much stronger country, assuming the USA doesn't "liberate" them like they "liberated" Iraq. Brazil is dirt poor, is having major internal conflict + corruption, while Venezuela is pretty much a modern small country.

Right. Because every time "people", especially lemming-minded stock dabblers, have predicted something it's come true. Just look at "there's no better investment than a home" or "you can't go wrong investing in tech stocks." In the 1800's, they said that powerhouse France would take Britain for sure. In the 40's they said that powerhouse Germany would run the world. During the cold war, they said Russia was the greatest threat to humanity -- here to stay. And let's not forget all the great predictions about pre economic meltdown Japan.

No worries. I don't think you'll ever have to worry about being right about anything.

If your basing your insight into this inevitable tailspin based on your narrow minded indicators you listed below than you are really far off on this one. Look at any reporting for the Chinese economy and you'll see that they are slated to overtake the U.S. in 20 years or less. You see China as an old world country, which yes, in some remote parts it still is instead of the cash cow that lies ahead.

The developmental and infrastructural things that are already in place, being continually worked on, without any evidence of a recession would suggest otherwise.

To each their own, I suppose. Hopefully, for you, you don't look back at this and come to the disappointing realization that I was right.

And then multiply by zero when we nationalize and/or China goes into yet another revolutionary tailspin. There are more reliable markets than China, especially with the dropping dollar. And yes, you can still get 10-15% reliably.

Icarus, you're going to be the fool that dumps his money into bonds and makes 2.5% over 7 years while I'll be dancing around you at 20-30% each year. I pity your bleak foresight.

This is an awesome idea. Well, I mean, unless you actually look into the relatively near term and blatantly obvious future. You've got a shitty, oppressive government that everyone (even the Chinese) hate more than America. You've got a drastic rift between the haves and the have nots. You've got a complete lack of anything resembling a work ethic and a logistical nightmare. You've also got a pretty bleak eventuality -- as Chinese workers want a leg up from that nickle an hour they're earning, outsourcing won't be so lucrative anymore (already being scaled back in areas like Penang). End result? Massive unemployment and more social instability. I'd invest in them with the same confidence that I'd allow you to borrow my toothbrush.

This is why I don't take stock tips from Jethro Clampet.

Look at Brazil and let me know if you've ever heard of this thing called oil. It's black, worth more than gold (exaggeration), and the President of Brazil, Chavez, is basically giving it away just to watch America squirm.

Perhaps you've heard of natural gas. Well, have you? Yeah, guess who's got that one locked down you stupid fuck. You ready? Russia. Shut the fuck up until you learn a thing or two about....well, anything you shit stain of humanity

So what if Brazil has oil? Canada has oil too. And tons of countries have natural gas, not just Russia.

Also...shlongy, if you are looking for a stock to invest in check out TMA. It's trading relatively low right now because they had to pay out a bunch of margin calls and still are. However, when the fed dumped $200 billion into the market on Tuesday (I think, I can't remember) that money went to it's prime benefactors which are lenders, banks, agencies and the such which allowed them to rebound.

Mark that with the CFO's .5% default (he doesn't lend to subprime cunts like me) and you're looking at a stock that legitimately has a chance to bound back to $30/shares. I'm going to toss a little at it and see if it does anything but if it deflates I won't be taken a second mortgage out or anything.

eh...might be worth it for you.

I have several issues with this.

China is the cash erection of the future. Get this, Americans? You ready? This country is dwindling away economically and if you aren't aware the markets to have a financial foothold are the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). Out of these four countries I'm paying special attention to the pan heads.
------------------
What is in Brazil and Russia that's so awesome? Russia is snow and Brazil used to be rainforest but now it's just crappy farmland.

I find myself completely addicted to the stock market, legalized gambling if you will, and have taken to playing with it on almost a daily basis. I'm sinking money each week into my Scottrade account and trying to make the right pick to insure that I'm veritable investor.
--------------------
Since when is gambling illegal?

I've got a well diversified IRA, trading account, mutual funds which allow me to feel as though I have a comfy cushion to fall back on if I ever need it, even now.
-------------------------
I bury my gold. People have been doing it for over 2000 years, there can't be anything wrong with it.

It sickens me to see people my age more worried about what TV they are going to buy, what new outfit they are going to get, what car they "need," instead of worrying about their economic future. I'll be aghast and will eat my dick if social security is around when I need it.
========

It sickens me that people are more worried about their economical future, then the future OF THE FUCKING ROCK WE ALL LIVE ON.

It was fun, yes.
That is all.

Im going to be poor my whole life.

Im going to have money but work my life away.

OOh, the options.
