After seeing the spectacular "Descent", which is a great horror/feminist film despite a multitude of climbing-pick attacks to male genitalia? I was curious, nay intrigued at the directorial teams next foray into mass-moviedom, "Doomsday". Which is named after the guy that killed superman?
Hmm... scitzophrenic mediocrity comes to mind. First their in Ancient Rome killing Juno, then they're in Ancient England klling Lancelot and breaking up Camelot, then they're killing Jove and Mad Max from Beyond Thunder Dome. Then they're all heading back to Burning Man for a second round of firespinners and Pike Decorating. It was fun, but not good. Anyway, I wish I could pull out my eye and bounce it accross the floor to spy on people.

"Descent" wasn't bad. I mean, the acting was horrible, but imagine being trapped in a confined space. I mean literally trapped at the shoulders by solid rock in a passage not even big enough for a twelve year old to fit through and you are 100 feet underground. Then imagine that you get separated from the rest of your party by a freak cave-in and you are unable to move. You are in total darkness and the only thing you can do is scream your throat raw and cry.
How does that journey to death sound? It sounds pretty scary to me. Of course the movie doesn't go there, but my brain does.
It's the "what-ifs" that get you.
No matter how you look at it though, even the thought of being trapped in a cave like that isn't scarier than the way this post is written.

"Descent" sucked sweaty balls. The only scary part was when you saw the monsters for the first time thru her night vision. And I would've killed that AZN bitch the second I figured out what she did.

Just because 'The Descent' has a (pretty much) all female cast, doesn't make it a feminist movie.
