I have seen Venus, naked and lovely, with an effortless smile pursed slightly, as if to kiss. I have seen the endearing eyes, gazing far towards lands yet unseen. I have seen her pale, blemish free skin, covering her well proportioned body and the teasing arm, deftly hiding one breast, yet enticingly revealing the other. And I can not forget the beautiful ginger hair wrapped around her most holy of hollies.
I have longed to take a peek, but no matter how hard I tried, I failed. What I wanted was to be teleported back to the 15th century, into Botticelli's palette and let him work me into the 'Birth' and have me nestled on her soft bosom .
And tonight, whilst lying in bed, thinking of her, I peered through my window and there she was again- sticking out from the pitch black sky- shining brighter than the brightest stars, but darker, moodier and without the serenity that I had witnessed at the museum.
She had me transfixed and I felt myself levitate towards her, but when I reached close enough to touch I was appalled by what I saw.
Her emotions bubbled up from deep within her core, to erupt in hot fountains of fury and volcanic ash. She enveloped herself in a toxic sulfurous stench choking the life out of anything that may have dared live on her. Her relentless howls reverberated across the rocky outcrops, blasting away my eardrums and shaking every inch of me.
Despite this, a strange force drew me even closer to her and soon I was standing beside her and my wish had come true. I sank deeper into her and could feel the heat steaming up from beneath. A heat, I soon realized, was coming from my burning flesh. I screamed in agony only to find my screams lost in the thick gaseous blanket. I looked down and my hands were melting away where raindrops of sulfuric acid had struck. In a final show of anger she smote me unconscious. And the acid reduced me to a stump that served as a warning to other sycophants that her love was attainable.
I had been cautioned before but my love for her had blinded me. When they spoke of her as the treacherous type-a serpent that would tell me beautiful lies then chew me up and spit me out the other end -I never took notice. To me she had always been a majestic goddess. There to be worshipped and admired by the likes of Botticellli, Titian, Bouguereau and everyone that had gone before. If these men saw something great in her then who was I to disagree.
But as I struggle for one more thought, it all becomes clear.
Never mind gravity, string theory or worm holes. Forget perspective, tone or lighting:
Venus will always win because her tainted beauty is what draws us hapless men like a moth to a flame.

Cool!
I've often thought about the possibilities of suicide via planetary visit and which planet or moon would be the best to die on.
I think I'd choose Jupiter's moon, Io.
I might live a few seconds, long enough to see beautiful volcanic plumes rise high above the surface and massive Jupiter shining down on me.

My Planetary Geology thesis was on Io.
I'd want to be splattered across the rings of Saturn I think. Sure, Jupiter has rings, but Saturn's are way cooler.

Neptune for me. i would remain frozen hoping that future humans might come across me and revive me so i'd get to see what the future earth is like.
its not quite suicide but think how long it will tak for humans to advance that far.
