The world begins to turn
Horses whinny, lacquered and sparkling in the sun
Children squeal and ice cream falls
The music is loud but it's ok
The speakers crackle with monotony
The ride goes on
And on
And on
Nothing is outside of the carousel
Their life, their world
Tufts of cotton candy on the edge of reason
Out of reach
Settle for watching
Afraid to leap
The ride goes on
And on

Poetry is only good when it's funny, or when it tells a story or has meaning to it. This is one of those things.
