This is a word of warning to anyone considering buying a car from Arnold Clark - don't. Just don't, turn around and run in the other direction. I am currently the unfortunate owner of a Peugeot 206 sold to me by one of their 'charming' sales reps.
I discovered today - whilst my car was in the garage for it's MOT - that it had been involved in a bad accident before I had purchased it. I have spent almost a thousand pounds in less than 2 years since I bought the car repairing things that shouldn't be wrong with a car this new. It turns out that Arnold Clark were completely aware of all the car's problems, they merely 'patched them up' so it would go for long enough to get me away from the dealership!
I also checked my previous MOT history on VOSA's website today, the car had initially failed it's MOT with Arnold Clark. All the parts of the car I have since paid to repair were identified in this failed MOT by their mechanics, but they pieced it roughly back together and sold it to me anyway.
When I phoned the dealership to complain that they hadn't informed me the car had been involved in an accident, I was brushed off by an arrogant salesman who obviously felt his time could be better spent trying to fleece other unsuspecting souls out of their hard-earned cash.
Turns out this isn't the first time this has happened - a friend of my Mother's went through more or less exactly the same story. If only I had known I would never have went near them. And so I write this in the hope that I can prevent even one person suffering the same financial losses and inconvenience that I have.

Thanks for the warning. I'll not be shopping there! Of course, you did buy a Peugot. It's kind of like complaining that your chrome-plated and polished turd is a nonetheless a turd.

You should always make checks BEFORE you buy a car.
We just bought a car, did all the checks and it was still a pup. The seller then had to pay for all the repairs, and we used our own mechanic.
You are more stupid than me. That is something to be ashamed of!

if the car was written off, Cat C or worse, it's illegal for you to not have been informed. Contact a previous owner and find out.
It should also be on the V5, if I remember correctly.
