I decided my cat would function as a very small and furry katamari ball. His feet would pick up all the trash in the apartment and I'd roll him around until the carpet was completely clean. He'd talk to me while I did.
Why how are you, he'd say.
Well isn't it a pleasant day, he'd say when I rolled him outside and onto the sidewalk.
People would wave at me because they'd think I was a good citizen and a fine neighbor for rolling my katamari cat over all the cigerette butts and trash. The cat would wave at them as he rolled by.
Ta-ta, he say, because my cat is a very british kind of cat and british people say ta-ta.
One day he'd get so big and covered with garbage that I'd forget he was my katamari cat and I'd quit rolling the ball to go look for him. Littering would be at an all time high and without my katamari ball to save the world, we would drown in pizza boxes and beer cans.
The king would come out and tell me I hadn't picked up enough, but he'd still put my cat in the sky as star dust. I've been so bored, he'd say.
