I spent a day trying to think of someone who, during my lifetime, I'm glad is dead. That's a difficult sentence to structure without coffee. Anyway, I could only come up with Marge Schott.

As another liberal douche who does not welcome this great man's death, I will say I might mourn even more so on Shatner's passing, may it be many, many years in the future. But Planet of the Apes alone buys this guy a ticket to paradise.

I may be a liberal douche bag (I prefer Libertarian), but I'm not glad he's dead. As I said, I have rather enjoyed many of his movies. I just thought it was weird that I was thinking about him the night before he died.
There's much to be said, in fact, for bad, hammy, over-acting. I've said here before that Peter O'Toole is one of my faves.

Hey, me too! Well, had at some point. When I was six I had surgery when the Globetrotters were playing across the street from the children's hospital, and a few of them visited. Curly was my favorite, but he wasn't there. I remember meeting Meadowlark Lemon. A few weeks ago Curly and some other guy were on my local morning show, and lots of people called in with Globetrotter stories. Good times.

Wretched (over-) actor that he was, I enjoyed many of his movies. I recommend Touch of Evil. He's horrid (he plays a Mexican!), and Orson Welles steals the show, of course. Good movie.

Apes was a knockoff and a lousy movie. Now tell me Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments didn't have primo acting. Charlton Heston was MUCH BETTER than any actor in the last thirty years, bar none.
