What i COULD have done is make the temperature in fahrenheit so the scale could go to 100 in both instances but i realised that fact after it was done, and I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SUBJECT TO THIS SORT OF SCRUTINY ANYWAY.

Well, if you want to be even more critical you can trace graph humour even further back to the Pacman "The percentage of the graph that is pacman" and, even more specifically, the "Hindenburg altitude/humanity" graph with which this has far more in common. However, if you're that critical of internet memes then you're not going to laugh much... or get on BaW.
