When I was younger I had many fears. I say younger, I think I still have a list the length of my arm of things I'm terrified of...
When I was younger, my parents didn't have strict rules on the things I was allowed to watch.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space...
My brother was an avid renter of videos. He would rent every horror movie going. My little sister and I would watch these films after he finished with them eating ice-cream and chocolate sitting in terror on the couch. There is only a year between us and I suppose I watched these from about seven years old. We'd both sit transfixed on the television both horrified and thrilled. I didn't matter how scared we got, we would watch a film no matter what.
I remember the clowns and the shadow puppets which ate people...
I remember the popcorn chasing the characters around the circus tent...
I remember the electrified ropes...
I remember the candy floss hanging from the ceiling which contained dead bodies...
I remember that the dead people would be taken back to the Klown's planets and eaten as snacks...
And most of all, I remember the Klowns...
I lay in bed for weeks too scared to move, not able to sleep. I cried for hours quietly as I searched the shadows of my bedroom. I had a giant panda in the corner which in the dark I imagined turned into candy floss containing a dead body. I would wrap my duvet tight up under my feet so the clowns wouldn't crawl up from under my bed and grab my freezing feet. I wouldn't touch my bed posts in case they had become electrified. I wouldn't get out of bed for fear of the popcorn but most of all because the shadows might swallow me up.
I desperately wanted to go through to see my parents who I knew would console me but for the above reasons I would not move. I woke one night convinced a Klown was standing over me and that it had stung my wrist as I was sleeping. My wrist hurt but when I looked again, the Klown wasn't there.
I had dreams and one that I still remember to this day was just after Christmas. I'd gotten a trampoline which I loved. All my friends had come round to the house and it was dark. All the lights went out and my parents were locked down in the kitchen. My friends and I held the trampoline up against my bedroom door barricading us in and keeping the Klowns out.
But they weren't outside my room...
I turned around and the Klowns were in my little sister's top bunk. Their sinister smiles were sneering down at me. I wanted to scream but it was gagged in the back of my throat. The shadow puppet came down and I fell...
I got a Lights Alive for Christmas. As I was swallowed by the shadow, I fell onto a giant Lights Alive. Giant squares came down from above stamping out the black matrix to reveal the colour shapes below. I ran to avoid them crushing me. The Klowns laughed on screens around the room, jeering at me until I curled up in a foetal position petrified with my hands covering my head.
A great frill cuffed white hand picked me up...
I woke up screaming...
I addressed the fear a couple of years ago. I hoped the perspective I had of this film when I was young would be completely different as an adult. How right I was, this film is neither terrifying nor sinister; it is hysterical in its badness. It is completely ridiculous but a work of genius. I don't think a single film in this world has had such a massive impact on me as this one. For that reason I will think of it fondly but never keep a copy on the premises for fear the Klowns may come back when I sleep.

I was 7 years old!!! How fair is that?
----------------
Very. When I was 7 I was playing Doom.
----------------
Doom never scared me. Killer Klowns, Candyman, Childs Play, Demonic Toys, Dolly Dearest, Pet Semetary, old vampire movies, old zombie movies, The House of Usher, Warlock, Poltergeist, Spectre, The Omen, Amityville - These all scared me and the point is, they're all silly now when I watch them. Its funny how outlooks change as you grow up.
-------------------------
Seriously, Amityville? Are you kidding? That was never scary for me. I remember watching it when I was a kid and thinking "cool, the walls are bleeding!"
I guess I'm just emotionless.

I dont really see the point in scary films unless they have a concrete story line, personally I thought the Saw movies were fucking pointless.

American Werewolf in London.
Scared the shit out of me... what made it worse is it was so funny, it would suck me in and them BLAMO.
Halloween was also another film that gave me nightmares.
That said, I hate being scared so I don't usually watch scary films.

Out of curiosity, are you a lesbian?
If so is your girlfriend manly or ultra-feminine?
Either way could I get videos and/or pictures?
