Frankly, I know that I've been gone from this site for quite some time, and the brief appearances I've made have largely been inane.
But after watching the "debate" on ABC a couple of nights ago, I found that I needed to clear my mind a little, and I couldn't think of a better place to do it than this.
There is, after all, something more damaging and disappointing than the Bush administration. I'm talking of course about the mainstream media.
There was a time in this country when the media was the watchdog of our democracy. However, that time appears to be as indelibly gone from this country as the lindy hop.
The debate was a sham. How dare they focus on questions such as lapel pins and obscure connections to convicted terrorists?
I know Clinton lied about Bosnia sniper fire. I don't care any more. I want to hear about the substantive issues facing America.

It's pretty sad when the best news reporters in the country are a pair of comedians, and the only TV station you can rely on to hit us with the facts is Comedy Central.

The stuff they pump out on Fox or CNN wouldn't have been considered journalism when I went to college. It would have been lumped together with the yellow, sensationalist, hot-button crap you used to only see peddled by clowns like Geraldo and Limbaugh. The media bulldog that exposed Watergate is dead. In its place is a fat, toothless poodle with a really bad perm.

My local newspaper has a "comment on the article" section that, for some reason, accepts html. I frequently type a long diatribe there, and embed Rick Astley at the end of it. The song loads while they're reading my gibber.

the tv and newpapers as medias are losing ground to the internet.
i find the quality of content in both television and papers as dropped a lot in the last few years.
