How many of you have been Beebed? Put your hands down you stupid fucking morons, it was a rhetorical question. I was looking through some of my old stuff and laughed as I looked at the history of me making the classic noob mistake when I started here and then worse getting into a flame war with our resident idiot savant.
I didn't lurk before I posted. I stumbled on the site, enjoyed some posts and decided to post a story of my own. So I started writing and when I reached what I thought was an appropriate length I posted that section of the story. Apparently I thought posts needed to be really short, I'm guessing I saw some "wtf I'm not reading all that"s and worked from there.
Shortly after posting the first part of the story I posted the next section and then I think I went home for the day. The next day I posted three times to finish the story not once catching the comments warning me about the consequences of posting more than once, most notably that you knocked your post off the front page.
The story I was trying to tell was about my, then, wife's battle with cancer and how we'd come through the experience. I don't know if Beeb read the whole thing or not but he read enough of it to do two things. First, he provided actual constructive criticism and showed me I could have posted the story as one post for a much stronger post than the separate five pieces comprised. Second he used information from the story to create a classic Beeb style illustration involving peenars and my wife's chemo port: http://www.ubersite.com/m/36698
Initially, at least as far as it looks from the review I put on that post I tried to ignore the illustration and take the criticism to heart to help me become an accepted user here. Apparently though I was offended and maybe the reviews on the post pushed it just far enough for me to do this: http://www.ubersite.com/m/36932. That's right, I "beebed" Beeb and started a short lived flame war with him.
I didn't really recognize what I was doing or the fact that established users do what they want cause they earned that right. I called him out for a seeming hypocracy and retaliated in the same manner he cast my related experience. On a side note, this is where, as far as I can tell, the verb "beebed" was coined. Frankly I had the classic noob with panties in a bunch syndrome. Circe immediately called me out and pointed out I would get nowhere by continuing this fight and I pretentiously backed down. I seriously laugh at what a dumbass I was but at the same time I can still understand the indignation that spawned it. Habeeb is a last word kind of guy, you know? Almost two years later Habeeb gave us this gem: http://www.ubersite.com/m/84160 using a camwhore i posted of my scanned face. BLITZKREIG_BOB asserted in this post that I might hold the record for total number of beebings, anyone been beebed more than me? I count four there but I think there was one more or the mere mention of his name may end up generating another. Regardless, anyone got four beat? Any beebings you particularly enjoyed? Habeeb IS still at it, anyone care to volunteer to be fodder for another of his beautiful illustrations?
In the end I've more or less been mildly entertained by beebings after I dug my boxers out of my brown eye and took them for what they are. Sure, there's some personal stuff used there but it's stuff I provided so fuck it. Out of boredom I've recounted my dealings with Habeeb GO BEARS WOO!!! THOMAS and hope that I can hereby honor him with this beebing.
