+2 to piss people off.
I rated Ballare's travel post '0' and Lordy orph, you should have seen people weep over it.
My point was that the pics were ok but there was little effort compared to matnotharry's India post, and a few others I have seen.
I stop auto +2ing, start rating fairly, and Uber can't handle it.
I personally would have preferred captions, maybe a few facts, even a bikini camwhore of you at the end (or is tha Ballere?) but who am I to have an opinion on a website which invites comment and rating, both negative and positive?

Great pictures. Must be a hell of a city to visit.
On a side note some friends of mine went to Cairo with a few years ago and one girl, an ok looking blonde, was with her boyfriend who was offered money for to buy her permanently on two occasions. As a slave I guess.

Ok, some commentary for the retarded:
1. Mosque of Muhammed Ali (not the boxer, but an Egyptian nationalist, and appointed viceroy for the Ottoman empire in 1805.
2. Khan al Khalili - big open aired market in Cairo, selling pretty much anything
3. A felucca (egyptian sail boat on the Nile)
4. Bread seller - Coptic Cairo (this bread is subsidised by the government and available for all the millions of poor bastards that live here.
5. Midtown Cairo from the top of the Marriott
6. As corn_nugget rightly pointed out, the Sultan Hussain Mosque.
7. The Great Pyramid
8. Back streets outside the old city

No mention of Texas but according to Google Earth, there's a Cairo in GA, IL, NY, WV, NE, MO, MS & OH.
I reckon it would make quite a good trip to visit all the small bumfuck towns in the US named after their more illustrious namesakes. If someone gifts me £10k, I'll hire a car and do it. It would probably make for more interesting viewing than this.

I stayed in Cairo for a few months, once during the winter and once during the summer. The touristy spots (pyramids, etc) annoyed the hell out of me, but Sharm was fun, even though it was loaded with Italian tourists.
I also loved going to the local shops, which I got to do quite a bit with my mother-in-law, while she did her grocery shopping. The butcher shop was the coolest thing to see. Kinda gross, but cool.
I ate the hell out of rice pudding while I was there.

The khan was not too bad - but just south of the tourist area is where the actual locals shop, and that was far more interesting. Didn't go to sharm, went to Luxor, Abu Simbel and then Dahab for diving, and then over to Jordan for a few days.
