Since the only work I'm doing right now is part time and voluntary, I've got a lot of spare time on my hands. I've been thinking about stuff to keep myself occupied and now that my dick is totally chafed I decided to do something a bit more active than pumping my fist. A couple of nights ago I decided to finally start doing a project I've been thinking about for roughly a year. It's pretty simple really, cycle around where I live with a video camera and put the video to music.
There's going to be different styles of video for different songs and not much editing as I prefer to do stuff in one take and hope for the best, or completely re-do it. In this video, the camera was taped underneath the left hand grip of the handlebar and I probably got about 15 minutes of footage. In the end it was the last 4 or so that turned out the best so that's what I used. The track in the background is 'Novocaine for the Soul' by Eels and it's one of the finest tunes of the 90's. If you don't have the album its from 'Beautiful Freak' then you are worthless scum.
I'm aware that this isn't the greatest video of all time, and that some bits work way better than others, but I'm pretty happy with it, for a first attempt. I'll be doing more and I'm open to suggestions (other than the usual 'Kill yourself' etc).
Without further, though necessary, content filled words, on with the show:

pretty cool.
awkward camera movement was kind of annoying though, i wish you had a way of steadying it. maybe tow a cart behind your bike and have someone else hold the camera.

"but this is a totally new concept and way of working for me"
---
So by 'way of working' you didn't mean 'work'?
Do tell.
Oh, and 'totally new concept'. Putting cool music to crappy video shot from your handlebars is hardly new.

On the internet don't you have to at least make $233,382,819,894 bajillion dollars/hour before you can make WAY more money than anyone?
Just saying...

I'm not bothered about making money and I'm not wanting to be hired to do any kind of video work. I've also never referred to myself as an artist.
I don't give a fuck how much money you, or anyone else for that matter makes. It's never been a concern of mine and I hope it never is. I'm happy with the voluntary work I do and I'm looking forward to the paid employment I hopefully have lined up.
I'd also like to point out that I didn't call this 'work', I called it and 'experiment', big fucking difference dude. It's also fun.
And by my calculations, $125 is about £15, big fucking whoop.

Well, since you asked: I'm doing contract work that has me billing $125/hour to provide medical illustration and animation. Every so often I check in to see which of you retards have anything interesting to say.
So you keep on riding your bike in the rain around your neighbourhood and call it 'work' - I'll stay inside, make some serious cash and randomly entertain myself with my favorite distraction : Ubersite.
It's funny, I don't normally feel the urge to get into a pissing match about what I do for a living - perhaps its because you fancy yourself an artist and I know I make WAY more money than you.
Oh, and just so you know - I AM working on a plan right now to make money for wasting time on ubersite. I'll let you know more when I have more details because as pompous and pissy as you are - you do provide some great entertainment at times.
You will not be hired for any video work. Sorry.

Given when I posted it and when you commented, you probably only saw the first two minutes or so. That means you missed the incredible surprise at the end. I got hit by a truck and smashed into bits! They have Uber in Hell, are you surprised?

Great music but I thought the last 3 minutes and 43 seconds of the video were pointless. Good video beforehand though.

Huh, getting paid to go on Ubersite must be a pretty sweet, if low paying, job. Though if you're paid by the word or possibly even minute, I imagine you must do rather well. Are they hiring?

Oh yeah, and the movement was intentional, though I didn't expect it to be quite as jerky. I'm working on a sort of head mounted stand thingy right now, but materials are sort of limited as I'm essentially raiding skips for bits and pieces. Recycling FTW!

I like the idea of this. The camera movement distracted and made it a bit hard to watch. It's a bicycle, I know, but unless that movement is what you're after, some sort of gimballed mount might be in order. Like this one:

Like to see more.

==============
I take offense to that, I'm Scottish!
And you're right, there was too much brick wall/blurry shots, I think next time I'm going to mount the camera on some kind of pivotal arm thingy so that it's not being moved by the motion of the bike. I'd advise you don't watch the next one I've got planned though as it's gonna be proper trippy.

An honorable tradition of chopping off your fingers, much like the hardcore Japanese, is a strong alternative to killing yourself and would also prevent you from tapping out posts like these.

Let' see:
- Close ups of brick walls that seem to last forever Check
- Blurry images of run-of-the-mill low-income housing Check
- Cars going backwards Check
- A full 30 seconds of no camera movement (for which I am eternally grateful) Check
- A veritable pictorial glossary of small, European, piece of shit 3 cylinder cars Check
- Some crazy english fucker with entirely too much time on his hands Check
+2 for effort.

I couldn't change gears because I accidentally taped them up, I didn't think I'd need to change them, for some of the unfeatured hillier bits they would have been nice to have though!

The back wards cars would look great during the guitar solo.
The bits that are still, you stopped for a rolly, didn't you?
