Can someone honestly explain to me what is so fun about this game? I'm growing tired of video games in general, but this one was a particularly big disappointment.
You could do a lot more shit in San Andreas. The new GTA is boring and too easy. I wouldn't be complaining if it wasn't for the fact that I keep hearing how this is the greatest video game ever made and is guaranteed to blow your mind. I don't usually buy video games because if I want to play them I just go to my friend's place and he's got everything I could ever want. I bought GTA IV because I thought San Andreas was pretty good and only needed some minor improvements. This one's a step backward. I feel like a huge sucker for buying it.
This game isn't even that much fun when I'm high. :(

If you read the post, you'd see that I liked San Andreas. I've played all of the GTA games since GTAIII. San Andreas was great. You could run around shooting rocket launchers in your underwear. You could fly jets and jump out and parachute onto buildings. The map was way bigger and had more places to visit. Police chases could take place across long highways. There was a cool army facility. You could buy property and cars. The car garages were better than the little parking spots. There were more kinds of cars and more kinds of weapons. The missions were harder and less repetitive.

The instant you find that a game like GTA IV is 'not fun' is the time for you to move to Florida, wear Depends undergarments, and F up an election by not knowing how to vote.
I remember playing GTA1 in the crappy 16bit 2-D overhead view version. You could run over a group of Hare Krishnas to get massive point bonuses.
GTA2 was actually less fun, but still pretty solid.
GTA3 is where it all changed... full 3D with some amazing graphics for its time.
Then came Vice City and San Andreas (extension of GTA3)... Vice City being the better of the 2 versions if for no other reason than the music.
Now GTA4 with enhanced everything and multiplayer.
If you don't like GTA4, chances are you never liked any of the GTA series, and you're also probably not heterosexual.

Vice City was great on the PC. San Faggotious was a waste of time. Now this crap, not even available on the PC, no massive control choices, no cheats, patches, trainers, save game swaps or graphics/handling hacks. That's what i think too. This is essentially the 'GTA 3' for the next gen. It's not trying to be as comprehensive as San Andreas.
I think the next few titles will be badass.

I guess that you don't read what is in front of you. I have three grandkids older than what I mentioned. I have eight G-kids, aged 21 to almost a year. I am 58, and will be 59 in October.

You know Buddhist monks, yeah? The one's with the pebble gardens who reckon raking sand all day and not freaking out about mortgage repayments is the best thing ever, yeah? Well it's a similar thing with gaming.
Like; buy a game, sit down and play quietly for 4 hours sort of thing. It's like meditation.
Now meditation or gaming or reading or things like that are not for everyone and it's pretty clear that it ain't for you. Perhaps you should try new pursuits like driving around race tracks, garden landscaping, swimming or extreme sports.
Maybe you just need to get more into online gaming, counterstrike and that sort of thing. Something with more of an emphasis on gratification.

i guess you haven't figured out that companies spend "money" on "advertising" and other forms of "marketing" to create a "buzz" or "hype" for a game. It also probably helped that the GTA series is probably one of the most popular/groundbreaking series for the PS2, and that this is the premiere of the series on a next gen console, and yeah, that might be why its made out to be a big deal.

San Andreas sucked terrible donkey ass.
Vice City was/is the shit. Everything about Vice City ruled incredibly hard.
I have yet to play GTA4 but a friend of mine owns it and says it's worth the buy. Revamped fighting system, different game-play, the cars handle more appropriately, among other things that I dont know about due to not playing the game myself.
I think I'll buy it next week.

GTA IV is only 'cool' because so many millions of dollars were spent in preparation of it's release last month.
Rockstar Games knows how to market it's products.
