I laughed at this. I do not feel good about that. In fact, I feel horrible. So to cheer myself up, I will watch it again, and laugh again, and feel bad again. I am trapped in a horrible cycle that will send me spiralling straight down to hell.
Now you have an opportunity to join me in hell. All you have to to is laugh at this.
Think you can avoid it? Think you can summon superhuman willpower and compassion for these individuals? I think not. When you hit the 'walking down the road to Tourette's Camp' segment at 00:40, I defy you not to erupt with laughter.
The laughter will not be malicious or hateful, but it won't be polite, either.
I would have no problem being around these kids, but at the same time, I would bray like a donkey from time to time in front of them. Better to be honest than polite, I say, so tell that guy who works next to you that yes, he really is fat, that he has something like spinach or maybe gristle trapped between his teeth and his fly is open, then kick back and spare two minutes for this video (images are SFW, language intermittantly NSFW).

Neurological, to be more precise. My wife has Tourette's, not to the degree that she curses (which the media tend to focus on), but tics like facial muscle twitching, small vocal noises, etc. are there; Risperdal does a good job of minimizing them though except under high stress situations.
My observation is that most of the public *thinks* Tourette's is psychological because a lot of people who have Tourette's also have OCD and/or ADD/ADHD, which are very much psychological disorders. Of course those tend to be acquired mostly due to being mistreated by their ignorant peers and family during adolescence.

Ok so there I was, studying Psychology at a graduate level, not trying to be a bitch about things. Anyway, my first semester as a grad student, we watched a video about Tourette's that was geared for the professional. As this was my first semester as a grad student, and remembering how the faculty watched us like hawks (to ensure they hadn't made a terrible mistake-haha), I'm doing my best to live up to the future professional image.
They filmed some poor guy with Tourette's talking about how the disorder made his life hell. Here's the thing, he had complex vocal tics and constantly screamed "CUNT" "BITCH" "WHORE" "DICK" "COCK" "ASSHOLE" and so on.
He was self employed as a code writer (if I remember correctly).
Anyway, it went down like this.
Poor guy: I'm aware of how uncomfortable COCK my disorder makes those around me WHORE. Sometimes, I find it SHIT better to stay home.
And as much as I tried to fight it, I started laughing and couldn't stop. The dirty looks around me just made it worse. I kept apologizing vehemetly but I couldn't help it. I finally gave the excuse that I laugh in uncomfortable situations and please don't throw me out of class.
I don't have Tourette's, I just curse a lot.
