A man was arrested in Sydney on sunday night for the sexual assault of a 16 year old girl, after the girl and a group of 7 other 14-16 year old girls assaulted, and attempted to rob him.
Harry Peter Johnstone, 35, of Glebe, was walking along Jackson Street, Glebe, when he was approached by the group of 8 young women, one of which was armed with a baseball bat. According to Johnstone, they demanded his wallet and phone. When he refused, the girl armed with the bat hit him in the face, fracturing his cheekbone, while the others punched and kicked at him.
He then snatched the bat away and proceeded to attack the girls, seriously injuring two of them - one of which is in a medically induced coma, after having developed a blood clot on the brain from being struck in the head with the bat. The other is likely to lose sight in one eye, according to medical staff.
When one of the girls fled into a nearby alley, Johnstone is alleged to have committed the crime in a sort of 'revenge attack' for the assault.
In court, Johnstone expressed little remorse for his actions, claiming that "the girls brung(sic) it on themselves. When they hit me, I just lost it." His lawyer argues that Johnstone had diminished responsibility, due to the trauma of being attacked and hit in the head with a baseball bat, and that the impact of the bat may have given him short term brain damage, impairing his decision-making ability.
The young women are allegedly part of a well-known gang of female teenagers that has been terrorising the Glebe area for months, committing widespread vandalism, mugging, assault and other minor robberies. Local business owners and residents when questioned seemed to all share a similar perspective as this publican: "Well, aside from him, you know - raping the one girl, all I can say is that they got what was coming to them. Here's hoping the rest of them pick up on the lesson."

well we all here at ubersite know how hilarious rape can be, but hows this for a cake-topper? he gets attacked by a bunch of street-hardened girls who had been amongst a large group of girls - many of whom live in the nearby government housing estate (which also happens to be situated in one of sydneys 'cool' inner-city suburbs) - who have been roaming around the area for months, basically doing what they like because
a) theyre juveniles, so police cant really do shit, and
b) theyre female, so the rules pretty much dont apply to them anyway.
then having been smacked in the face with a baseball bat, he turns into an action hero and takes them all out. however, the taste of victory wasnt quite enough to satsify, so he pushed it a step further, dining on the sweetmeats of the unfortunate would-be assailant.
hero, or villain? bit of both, i spose, but i guess theres a warped robin hood charm to it.
this is *mostly* something ive thought about for years - if i was attacked by a bunch of chicks, how would i go, how many could i take? i reckon i could take at least a few, but 8 seems like a lot.
though, all things considered, id probably leave out the rape.

HOLYHEAD, Wales - A man who dressed up as Darth Vader, wearing a garbage bag for a cape, and assaulted the founders of a group calling itself the Jedi church was given a suspended sentence Tuesday.
Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones — aka Master Jonba Hehol — with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.
He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones — known as Master Mormi Hehol — bruising his thigh in the March 25 incident, prosecutors said.
The two cousins and Barney Jones' brother, Daniel, set up the Church of Jediism, Anglesey order, last year. Jedi is the faith followed by some of the central characters in the "Star Wars" films.
The group, which claims about 30 members, says on its Web site that it uses "insight and knowledge" from the films as "a guide to living a better and more worthwhile life."
"We all love the films and what they stand for. Obviously some people are going to laugh about it," the Wales on Sunday newspaper quoted Barney Jones as saying last month. "But a lot of people do take it seriously."
Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.
"Darth Vader! Jedis!" Hughes shouted as he approached.
Hughes claimed he couldn't remember the incident, having drunk the better part of a 2 1/2-gallon (10-liter) box of wine beforehand.
"He knows his behavior was wrong and didn't want it to happen but he has no recollection of it," said Hughes' lawyer, Frances Jones.
District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Hughes to two months in jail but suspended the sentence for one year. He also ordered Hughes to pay $195 to each of his victims and $117 in court costs.

All the lame defenses out there that are used to keep child rapists from jail I disagree with, but if they do ever work in AUS they should work in this case. I would never argue that a chick in a dress is asking for it, but hitting you in the head with a bat? That is about as close to asking for it as you can get.
