The other day while sipping my whiskey, I had this question pop up in my mind. If you hang a newly born animal upside down since birth, what's going to happen when you cut it loose? It's going to wonder the rest of its life why it's walking upside down.

It won't be able to walk because its legs will have atrophied. If you're on about it's eyes though then it'll see fine.
The eyeball is a little bit like a magic 8-ball in that it's a sort of sphere whithin a ball filled with goo.
Sort of.
Well not very, but the principle is similar.
Sort of.

Build these, enjoy some of your whiskey, and test them by jogging along a cliff edge.

HellRazer, are you assuming that it's hung by, say, its tail and allowed to hang head down, or the way I imagined it where it was simply turned on its back? You're right if it was to be hung by its tail, but I don't think there would be any significant change in valve function if it was simply turned on its back. Also, assuming it was simply turned on its back, there have been significant studies done with people where they had to wear goggles that reversed their vision, and they adapted within a few days and could even write and drive. As soon as these special goggles were taken off, though, they had to readjust to 'normal' life.
Anyhow, this is a dumb post.

Actually, it would die. The blood valves in animals are built to use gravity. Reversing gravity for a substantial amount of time would weaken blood flow to almost nill.

No, it will readjust. Slowly, but it will. Within a few days. Also, if it was hanged upside down its whole life, how would it know how to walk?
