Mary and the Queen of Spades were losing in the race
and Jesus played a violin while Buddha flew to space
it's not the holy hobo men who said that we'd lose face
but that gypsy reading tarot cards and wearing dirty lace
it's rambling madness typewriters in dim-lit hotel night
with friends, hot coffee or wine we all are one in plight
the beggar's velvet grows until it's the only thing in sight
and no blue-light tales of prime time will ever set things right
we talk until the mountains bleed and run into the sky
and look around the rainbow for the one who'll never lie
where True Love grows on apple trees and all the piggies fly
and just beyond the horizon is where passion can never die
so answer the pay phone when it rings down on by the store
and know that fairy tales are true if you'd only ask for more
experiment with Fate and you'll just wind up on the floor
