I felt the eyes on me, the gaze crawling sluggishly up my spine as I walked up the stairs, the endless stairs. As I rounded the corner, I threw a glance over my shoulder and saw the angel on the wall, the angel head and wings on the wall above the door. Only a face and wings, wings that seemed to be sprouting from behind where the ears would be, if they weren't covered in golden curls badly painted on cheap ceramic.

It wasn't until a week later that the angel began talking to me. It whispered, to begin with, so I had to strain to hear it over the ever-present whine in my ears, my eardrums burst when I was small. My ears used to bleed.

I took the elevator twice, to avoid the angel, but then it cried and the crying was worse than the whispering. I could hear it in my head now, past the whining in my ears, replacing the whining in my ears with whispering. It started asking me questions, things I had no answer for. "Why?" it would ask, and I would have to answer "Because." but it wasn't enough of an answer and the angel cried.

It called me Hobbyhorse, although I told it my name was not so, and it asked me on the thirteenth day a question which lead to the end. "Why do you not burn this place down?"

Of course, Bubba. I was just being sloppy. =(

I'm guilty of underestimating, Haiku, but I'm not often surprised by what America does anymore.

Good stuff, BUT:

You awakened a pet peeve of mine---

"It called me Hobbyhorse, although I told it my name was not so, and it asked me on the thirteenth day a question which lead to the end."

LED to the end!

You and me both.

You would be surprised at how many people think that global warming is a clever scheme made up by the "liberal media", but like I said, you really shouldn't be at this point.

And that's only skimming the surface, really.

aha...you would think that would be logical, but you would be underestimating America's ability to produce funny looking young men with a complete lack of tact.

I think a young man with a head as big as yours on a neck as thin should be nicer to people who at least are semi well-proportioned. =)

Ha. Well, the sea of shit here has tides, as many seas do. Sometimes it's high tide, and there's just too much shit for there to be any beach left to play on and then at other times the sea recedes and I feel like I have space to spread out my picnic blanket, lie back, relax and get sand in my ears and my food, get my sandy food stolen by cocky seagulls, get bitten by sandflies, get stepped on by topless volleyball players running backwards, discover that I forgot my sunscreen and burn the fuck out of my face, burn the shit out of my feet on the black sand (shitbeach, NZ style) and generally struggle to remember why I came to the beach in the first place. And then the shit rises again and it's time to leave for a while.

But it's nice you think I'm cute. I'm not, but that's not the point.

"Could" has nothing to do with it. Arrogance is pretty much the standard when it comes to English sport.

Bell, Pieterson, Bopara, Shah all quality but so careless it is ridiculous.

What im saying is they all have so much talent but so little application.

Oh and Ambrose is Pure Shit.

Pah. But we do have a problem, all our batsmen are very classy but fail to deliver.

Much like me........scores of 44,26 and 21 this season :(

Be interested to hear your take on the 'controversy' in the last match.

This match is nicely poised. Pieterson could win this but alas he could always lose it.

Wellington is a lovely place, Toe. You're in Auckland? Wellington feels a lot less like a big city, but still has all the things you'll need and want.

On a completely unrelated note;

As I read this, this post entitled "Ten Thousand Lightning Strikes in a Day," I couldn't help but notice the sentence construction, the jarring sentence construction that kept crying out, kept shouting "Look at me!" And then I got distracted, lost in the jarring sentence construction that kept crying out, Look at me!" and I lost track, I forgot what the story was about. But it's fun, really fun writing like this. Isn't it?
