It was a cool summer night, so cool in fact, that a chill ran through Lena's slender frame, reminding her that she was alive; she sometimes forgot. The cool breeze also reminded her that the summer was quickly coming to an end. Where did the summer go? she thought, as she took a long drag from her cigarette, her bony fingers caressing the blazing cancer stick. The chirps of crickets saturated the heavy air, as cigarette smoke swirled gracefully in the moonlight. She heard a siren's urgent cry in the distance, a few gunshots; all the usual soothing sounds of summer. She did live in the ghetto, after all. What she heard next, however, disturbed her greatly. A blood curdling scream pierced through the night like an arrow. It sounded like someone was being murdered...she wasn't a detective or anything though, so she just went in her house and locked the door. Little did she know that there was a vicious killer on the loose, and she was next in line..........to be murdered.

Nice. But yeah, it could have been more purple. The ".......murdered" was perfect.
