You know, that opening guitar bit has a nice, clean sound, and then you fucked everything up with vocal mixes and a dull dance beat.
This is against the Uber grain, but can I suggest using that opening and running with it and going in (for lack of a better term) an alt-country direction? You can still sing about he same shit, just try a different sound.

Pretty good, but i think you missed the big payoff which came just about two thirds into it when you did that three instrument solo thing. After the third stanza I just wanted everything to come together and BLAST but it didn't happen. Anyhow here's a plus two for creative effort.
