This Finnish pop-music video was brought to my attention recently and I saw fit to bring it to all of your's. Below is a brief conversation I had (on a message board) with a friend in regards to this video:

My Friend Says (just ignore his fuzzy math regarding the $ to € exchange rate):

"Even though I had nothing to do at work except watch this video, I feel like I just lost 3 minutes, 29 seconds of time I could have spent doing anything else. However, I feel the need to critique.
First, how the fuck did you find this? Did you google "Finnish dancing"? Do you really know who Armi and Danny (or, according to the dancers sweaters', Danny and Armi) are, and how?
Second, I personally enjoyed the video in black and white. It was very nouveu riche (don't look this up, just trust I know what it means). It seems production cost ran around $14 in today's dollars, or 21 euros.
Third, I couldn't help but notice how much the finnish use their arms to express themselves.
And last, how on earth did they get that car to drive off into space? Just when you think Armi and Danny haven't pulled all the stops, they drive. A car. Into. Space."

My Response:

"It was shared with me by one of my former colleagues - a native German hip to the European pop scene past & present.

As for expressing themselves with arms, we can only assume Finnish dancing is their cultural response to Riverdance. Ya know, "...fucking Irish and their legs...take THIS!" (arm dance arm dance arm dance)

Or, we could take symbolism from the name of the artist for whom they dance. That is, if you describe their moves as 'arm-y', then the explanation and connection become quite obvious."

Arm dance Arm dance Arm dance!

Does anyone else detect a hint of 'Can't get you out of my head' (Kylie Minogue) in this song?

It makes me want to play the video onto a VHS tape, remove the tape from the cassette, and use it to bind the wrists and ankles of the next blonde woman or man I see while I beerorrhea on their neck.

I'm 1/4 Finnish, which explains my fucked-up last name... and I suppose the mystery of my fondness for bad disco dancing and rhythmic gesticulating is now solved.

I'D LIKE TO THANK BLACK PEOPLE ALL ACROSS AMERICA AND THROUGHOUT OUR HISTORY FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR MUSICAL HERITAGE; OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN MAKING MUSIC LIKE THIS.

Ha! - no shit. Not to mention we'd all be dancing like spastic robots trying to disco. Jesus those whitebreads got no rhythm.

Seen it. Don't recall where or WHY, but I've seen it.

I'd give it a -2 except it _is_ mindboggling.
