Frank didn't know how long he had to live, but the blood spurting from his nose didn't inspire confidence that his pension contributions had been worthwhile. The taste of iron reminded him of his childhood when he grazed his knee falling off his skateboard, or cut his hand climbing a tree, but the elastoplast and hug from mummy were nowhere to be seen. His attention moved to his sense of hearing, the occasional chirp of an unknown jungle bird, the call of a howler monkey, but other than that an oppressing quiet. Across the room the ninja stood, absolutely still, absolutely silent, shuriken held lightly between his fingers.
Periwinkle was on the roof of the shack, moving deftly across it towards the edge so that she could see Frank. Frank was facing the door of the shack, and although his sight was misty and blurred he could not mistake Periwinkle's burnt orange tail flicking down to send him a sign. This was his only chance, if this didn't work he would soon be nothing more than a smirk on a ninja's face.
Periwinkle burst into action like a tiny amber firework, she swung through the door, and wrapped her tail tightly around the ninja's neck whilst digging her pincer-like fingers into his eyeballs. With a satisfying pop his eyeballs burst and aqueous humor trickled slowly down his jet black mask, as if a giant snail had crawled over his face. The ninja remained absolutely silent, but was writhing in agony. Frank was still slumped in the corner, only semi-aware of what was unfolding.
Now on the floor, blindly striking out, the ninja fought pathetically against the monkey. Periwinkle bit deeply into the ninja's scalp, her sharp teeth passing straight through his hood, tearing most of the skin from his head, revealing a blood soaked skull. She spat his scalp on the floor disdainfully. Now crying like a baby the ninja took his last breath, and collapsed to the floor his life ebbing away.
Periwinkle ran over to Frank and jumped on him, licking his wound. "Cheers mate," Frank said.

A set of pale green eyes turned to the running boy, and Old Louey's wrinkled face shrivelled in a cheerful smile. He was delighted to see Leonard again. He was delighted to be safe in this house, and away from the Singe, and the demented King. Most of all, however, the crazy old chimp was just delighted to be feeding the ducks.

Sure, why not. I liked the line about being a smirk on the ninja's face.
