lost at last,
blue eyed angels come crawling through the ceiling tiles
and i know that hell is just a few steps away.
the nurse taking care of me don't speak no english.
my mom had always warned me not to travel with strangers.
hitchhiking was a different matter altogether,
and i'm none to sure where airplanes would fit into her
paranoid fantasies of her son being molested;
that's what fake heroin rigs are for anyways.
did icarus laugh this much when the engines burned out?
hollywood's too dramatic, as always,
and in fact reality quite often seems like a blur.
with no HD-TV replay the facts don't really matter.
and for the record, playing dead while the other survivors
search for civilization is never, ever a good idea;
though a better one than heading out on your own.
indiana jones my ass.
cellphones don't work in the jungle,
but i guess that one's a given.
and playing dead is usually a good bet now,
at least until the guys with blue white paint faces
try to offer you as a sacrifice to some god.
i should have listened to mother.
i think they were army guys, or maybe pirates,
either way i didn't stay and headed for the docks,
sandwiched between toilet paper and cat food,
headed for either Japan or the U.S.A.
you'd be surprised the places you can find a denny's.

I've got a photo of an ancient egyptian street, cream stone walls that look as old as the pyramids, with a billboard in the middle saying...
