This is just the begining of the internal argument that is going on in my head just now. Every day you open the papers or watch the news and you're bombarded by the most depressing stories about what used to be the greatest nation in the world.
So today the news that almost 180m are unemployed and a serviceman gets less compo than a footballer. hmm... i wonder what happened there? in our strive to be as great as america we made two fatal flaws. 1, we opened our gates to all that wanted in, and 2, we inherited their compensation culture.
of course its against the human rights of all those who are claiming to be refugees from whatever dictatorship that's raping and pillaging their country today, to refuse them entry, but benifits? get a job, pay some tax, become a useful member of society first. don't like it? F*** off!
hurt yourself doing something stupid? don't feel like working for the rest of your life? claim!
i for one wont be claiming when i hurt myself in afghanistan next year, i certainly won't become a drain on the already overstrained system over here.

GB was bankrupted after WW2 they also lost almost an entire generation of workers to the war (either through death or trauma)
GB never looked to the US to 'be as great as them' GB was the worlds super power until WW1 and 2, the pound sterling was the strongest currency for more than a century.
