My friends, I have decided to change my vote from Obama to McCain. Before getting mauled by you liberals, I'd like to give my reasons:

1) Obama is a socialist. As a middle class American, I hate that. Socialism = Soviets = Concentration camps and holocaust. What's more, he wants to redistribute my taxes to the poor and middle class.

McCain, on the other hand, is a capitalist. He wants to redistribute my taxes to the rich. I love working for and dealing with Big Business. We should not punish successful people like CEOs and Paris Hilton. We should instead be proud to contribute to their new jets and houses. God knows they need their yachts more than my kids need a college education.

2) Obama is completely out of touch with the ordinary American. McCain works for ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber, David the Dentist and Bob the Builder. Ordinary Americans all own seven houses. Obama only has one house. That shows how out of touch he is.

3) Obama is diplomatic and willing to talk to enemies. That is obviously a sign of weakness. Putin, Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong-il are all mad people who probably cannot even speak American. Half the 9/11 attackers are North Korean. We should bomb Russia, Iran and North Korea since they all have shitty armies.

4) We need to stay in Iraq. A war which costs 12 billion a month is just what the economy needs. Besides, I'm a patriot who supports the troops. Keeping them in Iraq for a hundred years is the best thing to do for them.

5) Fetuses are humans, gays are not, condoms cause STDs. It says so in the Bible.

6) Our lovely VP believes that humans walked with dinosaurs. Since we're staying in Iraq, we sure could use those dinosaurs now.

7) Change and hope are such meaningless slogans. Obama has not come up with any concrete policies to show how he's going to bring change about. All he has done is attacked McCain for being old and palling around with Charles Keating. He even flamed Palin's Godly, righteous pastor.

I'm ending with 7, because God created the Earth in 7 days. And in 7 days I hope you'd vote for John McCain.

And I am serious: If Obama is elected and manages to get his tax plan approved, I WILL leave a little note saying "The service was excellent and the food [drink][stripping] fantastic. The meal [drunkfest][lap dance] could not have gone better. Your efforts toward making my dining [drinking][high-n-dry] experience flawless are very much appreciated. In accordance with current tax theory, I will be giving your well-earned tip to a homeless guy outside because I have determined that he needs it more than you do since you have a job and are willing to work for compensation. I hope you appreciate what I'm doing for you in this way, and thank you for voting Democrat." instead of an actual tip every time I eat at a restaurant [drink in a bar][visit my nympho cousin's house]. I'm ready to do it and I will encourage everyone to do so.

Great idea! If McCain gets elected I'll give the waiter's tip money to his big boss instead. After all, the middle class and the poor should be honoured to pay tributes and labour to their rich overlords, just like the good old feudal days. Conservatism ftw!

From what I recall of the debate, Obama did acknowledge that the private sector are the ones coming up with the technology for alternative energy sources. At no point did he mention government involvement there except to say that it needed to provide incentives and support to industry leaders, especially where clean coal was concerned.

Hidden - I don't expect either candidate to follow through on most of what they say they will do, but for different reasons.

I expect that if McCain wins the Dems will do their best to block every single action he wants to take for spite or personal belief or whatever reasons they choose to do so, but they will not fail in four years to shout about his failure to follow through on those actions. Some of his ideas are not one with which I agree, but I think most of them are good and *important* workable.

Obama will fail to follow through on most of what he says he'll do partly because the Reps will load the bills with bullshit to the point where they cannot pass without line-item veto, and they won't let that pass either, but mostly because a lot of what he says he wants to do, especially wrt energy, is simply not possible in the world we live in. This is especially applicable to his energy fantasy - many if his idas hinge on development of new technology, which is a process that cannot be placed on a timetable. He doesn't really dwell on that too much, though, because it's not something he wants people to realize. And all this developing new technologies is supposed to magically happen from taxing the money-grubbing oil companies. But who does he think develops these new technologies? He'd have you believe it is the government, but it is not. It is the private corporations working mostly with their own reinvested private capital that brings you solar cells and deep-cycle batteries and Tang. All he wants to do is tax the life out of big oil companies so he appeals to the common man, then then and then give the oil companies the tax money back (less the 50% cut for parasitically administering the program, if course) to do what they're already doing much more efficiently.

I know I'll not cause anyone to voting one way or the other. All I'm hoping for is that the voters see what it is that they're voting for.

Well done. I love that Obama's gonna crush McCain. Living just a spitoon's distance from WVa, there are gonna be some CRAZY-ass, pissed-off, racist rednecks. I like going into the local restaurant and getting 'em all riled up about it.

I think I'd go out Monday night and swap all the McCain/Palin signs in peoples' yards with Obama/Biden ones if it wasn't misdemeanor vandalism.

"I was going to plus2 this for obvious sarcasm and humour"
sarcasm should be +2d because it's subtle, or because it's good, and definitely not because it's obvious.

"but then you said "speak American"."

I mean, maybe he's retarded, but the type of character behind this monologue would be the kind of asshole to say "speak American."

"American's not a language you fuckwit,"
As I said..

"doesn't your schooling system teach you anything at all apart from how to use a gun?"
We have the largest free education system in the world, and no, it doesn't always work exceptionally well, but we actually learn to shoot from video games, drivebys, and kicking ass.

"American's.... speak ENGLISH."
Perfect.

You're actually thicker than the subhumans who would believe this post to be an actual opinion. You knew it was sarcasm and you still don't have a correct thought in your tardalter head.

My mom sent me the email about the antichrist being muslim onaccounta it says so in Revelations. Reading religious books is kind of a hobby of mine (though I don't take any of them seriously; I read them because it's good to know what motivates the thought process in those that do). I told her it was ridiculous and explained why, and even sent a link to the book in as many versions as I could find at Bible.com so she could see for herself that it wasn't in there anywhere. Typical scam to exploit gullible ignorant people and easily seen as such by intelligent informed people such as yourselves.

The rest of the email had a list of terrorist acts from midcentury to present, all carried out by muslims. Again, all the terrorist acts carried out by non-muslims weren't on the list, but the ones that were on the list really were done, and by muslims. And again, it's just spinning the facts and lying by omission to gullible ignorant people and easily seen as such by intelligent informed people such as yourselves.

Why then can you intelligent informed people not spot it when Obama says things that he cannot possibly back up? I can only assign it to selective criticism, or that Obama is just a better liar. Probably a bit of both, because the other possibility is that he actually believes he can circumvent reality and the entire governmental method for passing and enforcing laws to bring about all his promises. Ah, well. Seven days to go, and then however long the court cases run after that, and we'll have a new President. If Obama wins, at least I'll get to know what flavor Pie-in-the-Sky really is.

(I'd say Pie-in-the-Sky probably tastes like chicken but that might be construed as racist, and it's not about the race - it's about the win)

===============================================================

skrap, every presidential candidate always says "i'm going to do this and that" and none of them can really back it up. 90% of people know that they really mean, "i'm going to try to make this happen." the thing is, Obama has a good chance to do some of the things he says he wants to do due to the fact that the Democrats control the house right now. he has outlined his plans for the things he says he wants to do. what more do you want from the man?

i'm just disgusted with the McCain campaign. i really am. like i said, i'm not affiliated with any party, and i would vote for a Republican in a heartbeat if i thought they were a good candidate, but i just feel like McCain is running for the glory. one last accomplishment (the biggest one) before he croaks. it's evident to me by his choice of VP and by the vicious things he says about Obama and most importantly because he said he's done it before in an interview. he said he's made political moves for the wrong reasons, out of ambition. i just watched the interview, but i can't seem to find it again. if i do, i'll post the link.

obviously, everyone that runs for president isn't just doing it for the people. there's some ego involved, including Obama. but i think McCain is much worse. and i don't agree with his policies. i also don't like his temper and tendency not to think before he speaks. Biden has done it before, but i don't think he's as bad. i've also seen Biden make some much better speeches than McCain or Palin could ever make. also, the way McCain phrases things and the words he chooses is just off to me. i saw him say "i have a FUNDAMENTAL disagreement with Senator Obama on this issue" over and over again. he kept using the word "fundamental", even when it didn't fit in the sentence he was making.

man, i'm drunk.

Watched this awhile ago and it's well done. Definitely makes a person think.

I'd love to see some of the philosophy made real but I think allot of it is unrealistic.

While I believe the argument of Human Nature VS Human Behavior is valid for the most part, I also believe there are enough exceptions to the idea to make a society without law unworkable.

As much as I agree that there is enough abundance on the planet for the advantages of a resource based economy to outweigh the benefits (what little there are) of a money based economy, I just don't see that radical of a change without every society on earth somehow miraculously coming to the same conclusion at the same time.

The Venus Project is the embodiment of a nice dream, but it's just that and won't be anything more for many many generations to come.

I could go on about this forever so I just going to stop.

But unless your forefathers were on the Mayflower, they weren't your forefathers. They were actually just immigrants moving to an English Colony in new, uncharted lands.

MY forefathers, like most Americans, either didn't come here until after we had become America, or came here as indentured servants, seeking land ownership, not a nation founded upon the religion of Christianity.

I'm not sure if that came out right, as your statement was rambling in itself, but the gist of it is that:

American forefathers= founding fathers, most of whom were very specifically non-religious

Puritans/Pilgrims= Religious refugees living on English soil.

apparently you skipped right over the part where i said it depended where you emphasized importance in which historical series of events.

see the funny thing about people saying our forefathers wanted a christian nation is they're kind of sort of right. the original european colonists that stuck around (not vikings) really didn't want a puritan nation all to themsselves. the people that actually went about separating themselves from the european nations that they jumped from didn't want that.

it just depends on which version of history you assign more importance, the first colonists, or the people that started the nation of america.

see the funny thing about people saying our forefathers wanted a christian nation is they're kind of sort of right. the original european colonists that stuck around (not vikings) really didn't want a puritan nation all to themsselves. the people that actually went about separating themselves from the european nations that they jumped from didn't want that.

it just depends on which version of history you assign more importance, the first colonists, or the people that started the nation of america.

i know. here's the kicker- there's a quote at the end of that email from Thomas Jefferson that i didn't include. it was his famous quote warning us that we should not let government get too big.

here's what i responded with-

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Danbury Baptist Association, CT., Jan. 1, 1802

Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindu and Infidel of every denomination.

-Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, in reference to the Virginia Act for Religious Freedom

This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday School:
How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations?

Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.
Almost a four-year term of a Presidency.

All I can say is 'Lord, Have mercy on us!'

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will
be a man, in his 40's, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with
persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says
that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace,
and when he is in power, will destroy everything..

Do we recognize this description??

I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as
you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or med ia outlet...do it!
I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.

Dear Friends,

As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .'we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . .' As with so many other statements I've heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I'd see the day that I'd hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation--and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.

I hope that each of you will do what I'm doing now--send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God's help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!

Please pray for our nation!

-----------------------

wow, that's retarded on so many levels. And since when did hte forefathers fight for the right for the US to be a christian nation? um, they specifically were intent on ensuring the serperation of church and state as one of the founding principles of the US. And all the "biblical" reference is inaccurate on just about every point, and by inaccurate I mean outright fabricated.

I cannot BELIEVE that people would seriously vote for McCain when there is even the slightest (read:massive) chance that Palin could end up as Prez.

She is CLEARLY insane! Shes one step away from being a flat-earthist! Stunned cunt.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You do understand that creationists ARE her base, right? Every country has its whackjobs, but what is disturbing is that the nuts in this country wield quite a lot of power and can actually be kingmakers some years. You can run Fred Phelps on nothing more than a "God hates fags, abortions and sex" platform and still get at least 20% of the vote.

Heretic and blasphemer! God created everything in 6 days and took the 7th day off. He did that so you can go to church.

Massive Christ-like appeal? If he was so "Christ-like", wouldn't he be "appealing" to the Christians who follow Christ?

Also, per Revelations 13, "the Beast" would be a WORLD leader, not the leader of the US.

Finally, it says nothing in that chapter about "the Beast" being of Muslim descent...fucktards.

Christians are so stupid sometimes.

i love how there's all these videos of racists at McCain and Palin rallies and neither one of them will speak out against it. my favorite is someone yelling "HE'S A NIGGER!" at a Palin rally, and Palin just keeps on talking, pretending she didn't hear it.

what kind of a person does that? a fellow racist, usually. McCain and Palin know they can't speak out against racists because that's like, most of their base.
