My Plan As President
America is going back to an isolationist policy starting immediately. We will offer to keep our bases open in your countries if you like. If you do not wish us there, we will close our base and immediately withdraw all forces. If you would like us to offer our defense and open a base in your country, we will do so only on the grounds that it mutually creates jobs for both of us. We will only stage a defensive from your country on the grounds that our host nation is under attack, and we will retaliate with a nuclear strike. An attack on a host nation is an attack on America herself. We have the warheads and we're not using them. We should look for diplomatic ways of solving our problems by threat of a nuclear strike. It is that important.
As for the military itself, we will begin the largest recruiting project possible. All recruits will be required to fulfill a minimum of 4 years of military training including duty overseas. All soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines will now begin earning a starting of $30,000. We will being opening bases in any state that wants an enconomic bolster. In the meantime the military forces in the state will be working with local construction, statewide, to begin building more schools, housing areas, libraries, homeless shelters, and perhaps most importantly, centers for higher education such as universities and trade schools, which our soldiers will attend while not deployed. After military service, the serviceman may continue his service, or choose to leave to civilian life. They will be granted one free pass, to pursue whatever career they decide on, in terms of college and program of choice.
America will free herself from dependence on foreign oil. We will begin using alternative fuels immediately with our own resources. Sorry OPEC, you just lost your #1 customer. We have the technology and the know-how. We have so many alternative resources here in the US, and we're just scratching the surface on miniature nuclear reactors, water molecule splitting, bio diesel...the list goes on and on, and that's not even including our wealth of natural resources. Solar energy, wind power, hydroelectric, and a terrific amount of natural gas, to name a few. We will have a nationwide trash and recycling and now, organic waste pickup, to keep America looking beautiful. The government will pay for your trash and recycling, and as for the organic waste, it will be turned into fertilizer for our new farmland.
Farmers will be paid a flat rate per acreage vs. crop/meat/dairy yield. They will be given whatever space they may need or want at their own risk. If there is a bad crop, then as a farmer you should already know you have to be prepared for these kinds of things. They may take on as many of the nation's new farmhands as they feel they can manage to accomplish this. Which brings me to our next change.
Immigration. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." What happened to this? Starting immediately our borders are open to whomever wants in. You can receive your naturalization the old fashioned way, by just swearing an oath, all in the pursuit of the American dream. All immigrants will now be required to work as a farmhand or other labor intensive job for a minimum of 6 months, and will be paid for doing so. During this time they will also be required to attend a minimum 6 month english course should they fail the newly required English Language Proficiency exam. We can require this of immigrants because...
Our nation's education system will require students at age 16 to participate in being a farmhand or other labor intensive job worker as succesful completion of now required agriculture, physical fitness, foreign language, and cultural and social awareness credits. School will be year round, Monday through Friday, from 8 to 5, with one week off every 2 months. Self defense training in conjunction with anti molestation training will begin at 1st grade and continue until 5th as part of newly required physical fitness and cultural awareness credits. Students at 6th grade may choose to further pursue self defense or any number of other activities now required by the curriculum any under a host of pursuable credits, such as boy/girl scouts, social care of the elderly, team sports, band, dancing, the arts, or activities otherwise enriching. Foreign languages will also be taught beginning 3rd grade as part of new curriculum requirements and cultural awareness. English, math, science, social studies, reading, psychology, geography, drug and sexual education, and life care skills via emotional enrichment through basic botany and pet keeping will be integrated. Students will also be required to work amongst local police for a period of a month as a credit for civil duty.
Teachers will now be payed a flat rate of $50,000, with substantial bonuses given to personal-, school-, and district-wide percentages of A students. Teachers would likely take a vested interest in seeing their pupils go above and beyond education minimums.
The DEA is is not going away but its role is changing. Drugs will be legalized, and manufactured by the federal government in clean, regulated, government approved, taxed doses. Drug abuse is not a crime. It is a sickness and a public health issue. Rehabilitation clinics will be free and available to those seeking to receive help from abuse and addiction, and will offer clean needles and syringes to intravenous drug users. Money taxed from this program will be funneled into rehab centers, the education system, and most importantly, law enforcement and socialized health care.
Prostitution is now legal and mandated by the federal government. Sex workers will be required to have a doctor's check-up once weekly, run in federally regulated brothels.
This will leave law enforcement with the resources to pursue real criminals with a much larger, effective force. Violent criminals. Sex criminals. Child predators. A force effective enough to combat territorial gang violence. The new law is that prisoners do not get their rights. A violent crime against a citizen of the United States is is now looked at as violence against America herself. If you're still willing after that to commit a violent crime, then you get all the time in the hole you deserve.

Incorrect. The grounds that this was based on, originally, were very faulty grounds; as I was in one of those moods and I rated irrationally. However, when you speak of "cultural identity" I would challenge you to think think that the United States takes it's cultural identity from everybody else. What is our cultural identity? Hate to use the term "melting pot" but that is what it is. In fact, as much as our European brethren likes to bag on us, our country has more of a counterculture than they could ever dream of. That is our culture, and it is a culture of dissent. So here I am, dissin' you. Now what are you going to do about it?

Glad to see you're in a more talkative (and less insulting) mood. When I implied about the grounds on which the aforementioned were based, I was referring to the original post, my plan. The grounds for required English and subsequent language training are all based on education, communication, and cultural awareness.
If you had made your argument about a so called counter-culture or culture of dissent around 40 years ago, I would've agreed with you wholeheartedly. The civil rights movement has attained its main goals of racial equality, the most of the iconic hippies died off, and the gay and lesbian community has moved from being a sub-culture to mainstream.
In my opinion, the only social manifestation of zeitgeist we have today is a nation of idiots who are concerned only with their appearance (the Paris Hiltons and Britney Spears come to mind), how much money they can make to fuel their ridiculous consumerism ($40k sets of gold teeth, rims, bling), or glorification of such obturate stupidity (I bet you've seen Jackass), that any culture we may have had at one time has fallen flat on its face and is in fact taking huge leaps backward.
Sadly, today, we as Americans have no cultural identity of which to speak, and I hope to God I'm not the only person in this country who thinks this way.

i quit going to college because i was wasting my brain. then i joined the military and actually got to use it. now i have an awesome career and get paid way more than i would have had i finished school and got that precious piece of paper that says i know something but doesn't prove that i actually know how to do anything.

You support isolationism, yet you want to expand our military and use nuclear weapons.
You would completely take control of the energy sector of our economy. You would socialize farming and trash services.
You would then allow anyone into the country on the condition they agree to be indentured servants, or slaves. I'm sure there is no way this could lead to human trafficking. You also would require that everyone learn English, never mind that Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, French and German are all preferable to English either in a scientific setting or in the number of speakers.
Your education 'plan' is unfeasible. Utterly ridiculous.
You would legalize and tax all drugs? Do the whole give with one hand and take from the other? The govt would have a monopoly on the drug trade and rehabilitation.
You would also legalize and oversee prostitution.
So, you would make America a communist country. You would use slave labor, and force all citizens to partake in military service. You would make change government into a parasite, feeding off of the mandatory labor, drugs, and sex.

don't get me wrong, school is a good thing and everyone should have a good education and strive to learn as much as possible. but going to school isn't always the best path for some. the military has done a lot for many highly successful people.

Yeah, I suppose leaving things like they are is certainly the best way to keep the general public from thinking too much. We can't have a bunch of educated citizens running around now, can we? No, that'd be too dangerous. God forbid someone teaches immigrants English for free as a means to increase education and communications stability. We can't have that. We have to make sure they can't read federal regulations, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, which are all written in English. Is that what you're telling me?
