About a week ago I was hit with a particularly vicious malware named XP Spyware 2009. Little fucker rootkitted me bad and basically hijacked my PC something fierce. (Byt the way, should you get it - http://www.removal-instructions.com/removeXPAntispyware2009.html )
Back to my question. I loaded up Windows Vista just because I had a spare disk around by I loathe it.
Should I load Ubuntu? Or some other Linux based OS?
I tried to revert to back to XP by loading the partition drive, but it didn't work. I know alot about computers, but not enough to fix this problem.
So, to all the compu-nerds out there, what's the best course of action?

XP Spyware 2009 is nowhere near a rootkit. I remove variants of it a few times a week.
But you never asked a clear question. Are you trying to wipe the whole drive and load a new OS or just trying to load a temp OS to aid in removing the infection?
A live CD such as BartPE, Ultimate Boot CD or a linux Distro would help in cleaning it.
If you're trying to just reload the OS stick with Vista if you're computer can handle it, get XP on there. If those aren't options Ubuntu is a great OS but many people have trouble converting if they have no idea what they're doing. If you managed to get XP/ Vista Antivrus 2009 you probably don;t know what you're doing.
Now go to a tech site. Why the hell did you post this here?

Effective virus removal and core-level memory-wipe can easily be accomplished with a gallon of gasoline, a lighter, and 10 minutes in a safe location.
