I saw a little kid on tv, she was a photo super-imposed on a blue screen news reel, washed away on a freak current in a waterway she'd been swimming in, a dam wall had broken and she was just whisked away.
I watched another family on the news losing a toddler, his twin still fighting for life in a hospital somewhere after they'd both fallen in a pool.
I listened diverting my eyes, shovelling 98% fat free cereal into my pie-hole, as some other guy held his hands against his head on the same channel, and I stared at the carefully cut banana slices that tettered precariously on top of the 98% fat free nestling in the milk I didn't particularly care for, as that guy cried like a baby because somebody he knew had died. I stood - tuned out, pointed the remote at the tv and walked away into the kitchen.
I saw a different guy who'd crashed his motorbike and it reminded me of taking my kids to the fun park but we were held up by a traffic jam, and we whined and bitched and then drove slowly, silently past the people sitting on the back of the ambulance, choking on their tears.
I listened to a man talk about his daughter who was dead, and sang la-la laaaaaa to drown out how distraught he sounded.
I went to work and heard about how somebody with the world at their feet had collapsed in front of his kids the night before as they played nintendo, and just basically died.
Sometimes you feel a bit crap, right? And feeling crap sometimes is pretty normal, and then all of a sudden, before you even know it, it's perspective time bitches - right upside your head.

Everybody dies eventually. There is no point in worrying about it - it's a certainty. But here's a question: If you could know the exact time, place, and circumstances of your death, would you ask for that knowledge?

I dunno sgt. I think spending a day buying soft furnishings for my lounge has done it. Either that or the drugs and alcohol I consumed in vast quantities at lunch lol

i don't want to give the wrong impression ei, that guy that fell over in front of his children wasn't a friend persay, it wasn't personal and it didn't happen yesterday it's just a story I know. I'm just trying to say sometimes bad things happen, a broken heart, having to work on the same weekend you thought you were going to a music festival, a tradie marching mud through your spankingly new foyer, bristol getting done by the womens team. It's cool to feel put out but sometimes it's just stuff you concern yourself with because nothing really bad has happened - you work with what you've got I guess.
