I did not think of you today.
Your absence went unnoticed,
there was no strange void to fill.

Around the table, there was no empty chair.
There were no furtive glances-
no feigned, sick smiles
to distract from your absence.

I did not think about your ugly, inked skin,
or the stench of a thousand cigarettes.
There was no mention of hard time,
of money, or grief, or neglect.

There were no whispers tonight
beneath the clanking of dishes,
or behind a half-closed door.

When I sang, it was not in spite of you
and the gravel in your voice
was missed by no one.

I did not think of you today.
And I think you should know-
the little boy who just turned ten
did not think of you, either.

If everybody is okay with it, and since there were so many forfeits in round two, I can put Saccy up against JoeyG (who both forfeited but expressed interest in still playing) for the "highest loser bracket" for round three. Deadline would be tomorrow, 11:59 EST. Let me know.

My demented opinion tells me two things:

1) Poetry should rhyme. It doesn't have to, but it should.
2) Poetry should evoke sentimental (emotional) feelings.

I can deal with the lack of #1. You took #2 to new heights.
Well done.

Psssttt!! Are you employed yet, or fucking off like the rest of us?

Also, I'm glad that you sang for no other reason than because it felt good :)

I did in fact think of you :)

Went for drinks with Rob last night. We came to the quick conclusion that you rock. Then we rolled around naked in a field of daisies because that's not gay at all.

I'm only leaving this +2 because I feel a compulsion to fit in wherever I am.

I just got home, with a few minutes to spare before deadline.

This is more a description of my night than anything else.

Homer: Well, the evening began at the Gentleman's Club, where we were
discussing Wittgenstein over a game of backgammon.

Scully: Mr. Simpson, it's a felony to lie to the FBI.

Homer: We were sitting in Barney's car eating packets of mustard. Ya
happy?
