I've recently set up my own business and I'll be working for my first client full-time until April 2010. I thought it not such a bad way to go as it'll get me through this so called global recession and by the time I'm trying to pin down more work, there will hopefully be more of it about.

Basically what I decided to do through some misplaced loyalty to my old company and a misconception there might actually be some benefits in it for me is I arranged for the contract to be set up between my client and my old employer who would then subcontract my company to do the work. I arranged for my old company to get a portion of money for the work I'd be doing for things like invoicing every month, access to their servers so I can pull on information if I need it and QA of any work I might produce. This is a resource which is invaluable to me when I'm just starting out on my own. I thought it was a good idea for the first year, until I get myself established and then probably break all ties with them and go it alone.

Well, the fucking twats have cancelled all my access so I can't see or do anything. This is shite bearing in mind they're reaping money to the tune of £36k off me this year for basically doing fuck all but running a few invoices, which I could just as easily do my self. I know their thinking intellectual property and all that guff but I've put it to them like this:

"There are dozens of contractors working for this company as it is all with full access to databases and information; I see no reason for me to be treated any differently. Also, it is an invaluable resource for me and I think you should be providing it as a service because my good working relationships have secured you a considerable amount of work this year. I am not a thief and if I wanted to nick off with the contents of your servers, I would have done so long before now."

I mean, WTF??? £36k for doing fuck all? Supposedly they're a business and need to make money. Still, I'm hard pushed to imagine who they fuck they're employing to run 12 invoices for £36k.

Everything is a fight with them! I mean, I landed them £200k worth of work in my first two days back with my new client with not even a thank you very much or well done. I didn't even have to do it, that's the thing and now I'm seriously regretting bothering my arse. This is why I left in the first place. I did everything they asked of me and more last year and still they wouldn't play ball. I wanted to get out of oil operators and back into the office and get cracking on some project work but they kept me out and about because I'm good at landing new work and spinning £££s. It didn't matter what I wanted and that even though I can sell rice to the Chinese that perhaps I wasn't happy doing it and it was the job I took in the first place.

I'M A SCIENTIST FOR FUCKS SAKE, LET ME DO SOME FUCKING SCIENCE!!!

Well, the boxing gloves are out and I'm no longer playing nice. I'm waiting for a phone call from a guy now and I'm going to tell him straight!

"If you don't start cooperating with me then I will no longer cooperate with you. I have not signed any agreements with you yet so what I'm going to do when I get off the phone is break all affiliations with your company on the basis that you have given me very little incentive to maintain this relationship. Through me you have landed a nice money earner for yourselves and the promise of a lot more interesting and exciting work for the team this year. I promised to also not disappear with my skills and experience and offer training and support to your staff as you requested. In return for that, I expected a level of support from the company which I am not receiving. Not only will it be more profitable for me to end this relationship, it also means I can pick and choose which companies I work with this year and it may or may not be yours."

Bets on me actually doing this though. It may require some mirror practice... If I do say it, I know I'll get exactly what I want and it'll be the end of it. I just regret who I've got to say it to because he's a good guy.

I guess business is business...

Banj giveth and Banj taketh away!

I find it weird that folk make the mistake of associating something like Loyalty to a company.

Companys have no loyalty, friendships, honour, remorse, memory, morals, sense of right and wrong or any of those humanish traits.

A company isnt a person, its an organisation setup with the sole purpose of making money for its owners/shareholders. Expecting anything other then this from a company is foolish.

You cant reason with a company. You cant threaten it or bargain with it or intimadate it. Its not a person.

It's true: there is no such thing as corporate loyalty. Get successful, buy your old company, and fire everyone but the guy you like.

I can get my information elsewhere and I just haven't got round to the written agreement yet because I haven't been in the office. If I don't sign it, it's more loss on their part than mine. It means I can walk and there's nowt they can do about it.

It's all sorted now anyway. Access granted and hopefully that's the end of it. I do hate these work battles. Why won't they just let me go to work and come home again???

if you haven't signed any agreements than you should have the ability to yank the 36K back out from under them and you should exercise that ability.

additionally, if you can presently access the same info from a different source, then you are free and clear. they reneged on what essentially amounts to a 'gentlemens agreement' so you don't even owe them the telephone conversation and shouldn't give it to them until they come and ask why they aren't getting their 36. then tell them why they can eat shit.

if you can't get your info elsewhere and it is absolutely essential to carry out your work properly... well shit, why didn't you have a written agreement, noodles?

Doubtful, I just love the attention. Negative attention tends to be more fun.

I just like that when anything is associated with "sicosemen" it's met with negativity and find that highly amusing.

I come back because I enjoy wasting time at work and using uber for picture storage.

And yes, I am currently writing under another name that is being met with positive attention.

That is all.

Have a good one. I officially have to start working now.

In actual fact I didn't mind you. When everybody was saying what a faggot you were I said I thought you were amusing. Then you got banned.

Then somebody decided to be a complete nob jockey. Three likeliest candidates = Beano, you or Oathmeal so I just decided to dislike you all based on the fact none of you would ever own up to it.

Although I don't e-hate you, I'm not that e-arsed about you. If you will drop -2s and call me names though, expect some kind of retal. It's not very nice.

And you obviously care or you wouldn't come back over and over again when everybody gives you shit. You wouldn't try and prove yourself posting under a different name. You wouldn't get so upset when people drop you negative reviews. Out of everybody sico, you probably care the most.

A truce? bwahahahahaha! For what, a banal, silly, internet feud? I don't even have an opinion of you one way or the other but obviously you e-hated me. If you can fill me in on the reasons why you dislike me, or I dislike you, etc. etc. I can form a better opinion.

Sorry, but I honestly don't remember :/

I guess Bart's not to blame. He's lucky, too, because it's spanking
