The Seagods Daughter
I. Amor
(Love)
I rented a boat, wanting sunny climes, and peace,
Sailing the Aegean, discovering ancient Greece;
Tracing the route of heroes long deceased,
(My little craft only had a one-week lease)
To find brave Jason and his smelly Golden Fleece;
To seek Odysseus, returning from Trojan wars,
Hercules shovels horseshit from Augean stable floors,
Theseus slicing sirloins from the mighty Minotaur,
And Perseus hacking the head off some snake-haired whore;
The sexy poet, Sappho, singing seductive songs
To the women of Lesbos, wearing togas and thongs-
Just thinking of naked women, partying all night long,
Causes flaccid soldiers to rise, Spartan-strong!
In Kalliste (a.k.a. Thera), where the Minoan people grew,
(And some say Atlantis, before the big volcano blew)
I sat on the beach pondering civilizations past,
When I caught a fleeting glimpse of fin, titty, and ass;
I approached with caution, my interest piqued,
She blushed coral and winked- I almost freaked;
Her smile beguiled, she seemed coy, so shy and meek,
Then our eyes met- that's all it took for Love to speak;
So there I met Despoina, great Demeter's daughter,
And kissed her lips in diaphanous Aegean water;
I felt a tide of passion rise, urgent, hot and ardent-
Risking all her father's ire- great Poseidon's trident;
I kiss eyelids, neck, then nipples- you give me shells;
Hot breath on naked skin, send ripples- you cast spells;
The rhythm of our ardor like restless, ocean swells,
Piercing the velvet temple, where tender passion dwells;
We danced upon moonlit sand, made love on the lonely shore,
Had erotic trysts in the briny mists, spent, yet wanting more;
The sea sang songs of mystery composed of ancient lore,
Symphonies from the deep surround, music in its roar;
We prance and play and laugh, in tickling turquoise foam,
We trace vagary trails on which nimble seacrabs roam;
On seaweed beds we lay our heads, the coast our misty home,
Amorously entangled, hoping morning will never come;
Luminescent algae in midnight water, teeming-
Swirling about like infinite galaxies, gleaming;
We drift in each others arms, defining Love's meaning-
A cosmos lies in Despoina's eyes, and the stars seem dreaming.
Entwined as one, our beating hearts resound
Like the breaking waves on searocks pound,
Cherishing every second of this fragile love found,
Knowing too well that, not just me, but to the sea, you're bound;
Love is fleeting, won't last, so they say,
And I, a man, cannot commit, will never stay-
Thus Ocean beckons sweet Despoina away;
She looks to me in her loving way
And to the sea and imminent day,
And after one last salty kiss
Splashes deep, into the Aegean abyss.
II. Amor Placitum
(Love Plea)
When Love takes pause we need realize
To respect Love's laws, seek compromise-
Though passion may stumble at such impasse,
We bond stronger, humbled, learn from the past;
When Love's symphony lulls with melody subdued,
Is this concert finished or just an interlude?
We rise reluctantly, with remorse and chagrin,
When the next movement, in sweet harmony begins!
After gray winters gloom, frozen and bleak,
Comes the breath of spring that thaws icy creek,
To coax and caress back the blossoms and bloom,
Roses flush our cheeks, kisses and whispers- we swoon.
Our desperate embrace does Love implore
To thrive within us as emotions soar,
For dread Reason hints when Love is no more
We lose all we could be or have been before.
One last salty kiss on coral-hued lips, glimmering;
Sequined-scales on lush, curvaceous hips, shimmering;
I glimpse you cast a final, heart-wrenching glance
And flip-fluke home, to some secret cetacean dance;
Wry light pooled in your eyes, resigned and grim,
Passion cooled in your thighs, now benign and prim,
For the fervor of our love had dwindled dim,
And with shunning shove, I'm abandoned to swim:
The relentless tide carries me beyond reach,
Beyond perfumed sands, the bosom of your beach;
Beyond silky channels, the bounty of your breech;
Beyond Siren lips, whose haunting songs beseech.
III. Amor Fugit
(Love Flees)
Like Demeter ravaged by Poseidon's equine dart,
I savaged your love and neglected your heart;
Through liquid eyes I watch grasped hands part-
Adrift at sea with no compass, no chart;
I peer through mist where eyes cannot see,
And blindly yearn your return to me;
But the cruel gulf between proves profound-
The whirlpool churns, causing hearts to drown;
A capricious current carries and enslaves,
I descend turbid depths through coral-crusted caves:
Poseidon's palace, patrolled by dagger-toothed fish,
Secures sweet Despoina, heeding her pearlpure wish;
Hope flees quietly as seabirds weep,
And despair advances, daunting and deep;
Tears mingle with sea in this desolate dawn,
Becoming broth, where fish in silence spawn.
I drift on swells of a star-swept sea
And imagine the breeze whispering to me:
Come home my darling, towards the moon in the west,
Come home my darling, lay your head on my breast;
I yearn to reach across this dark abyss,
Hold you in my arms, steal a sea-sweet kiss;
Instead I sit seeking my next hidden tryst
Writing ads to the memory of women I miss:
"Seeking soulmate to complete the Secret equation
And mend this tear in the fabric of Love-
Seeking subtle gravity source to capture devotion-
Together, we'll keep Worlds in motion."

Definitely a "All I have left is the smell of low tide." The tide came and went about 3 times before I finished reading this.
Good poetry.
Far to long.
Make a musical instead.

Didn't read it. Hava a +2 to even things out. I aim to be a non-factor in all facets of life.
