It is an odd sight to see, one so familiar and yet so peculiar, although at the moment there is nothing so exceptional about it, except for one thing which we will discuss in but a moment, and it is a lethargic and peaceful sort of room. It is a room that is enclosed by unexceptional (and rather dull) beige walls, hung with unexceptional (and terribly hideous, if we are to be quite frank) burgundy drapes. Decoration is sparse enough, made up of an eclectic collection of items potentially meaningful to the person who assembled them; a flag, a postcard, a train ticket. A tipsy drinking bird, even, perches quiet on a shelf, his jaunty blue hat motionless as the cup before him sits empty.

Presently we will consider what makes this space quite so unusual despite the bland nature of the room, and it is this: there are two of them. Identical doppelgangers (we will assume for the moment it is without the slightly grim implications of the word) are set brazenly opposite each other -- the flags and postcards and train tickets and even the small, dashing drinking bird all with an identical counterpart in the second, equally unexceptional room. Even the notepad present, and the hand upon it: yes, there are two of those as well, moving in tandem, pausing in unison. Peculiar, indeed.

It is a jarring double-world; one within and one without, both identical but only once genuine, although the second appears (again, we will re-emphasize, appears) to be just as authentic as the first. But curbed by an indifferent wooden edge to the twin world beyond, that which is untouchable -- which is real or unreal, true or counterfeit -- is innocuous and harmless and agreeable enough: it is that which is through the looking glass.

I usually have to have a dictionary when I read your posts. Then I have read it again to makes sure I gets it.

You're too smart. It makes me feel edgy and insecure.

ooh ooh oooh Haiku I just found this, I think maybe you can appreciate its glory:

little bit NSFW, but pfft, as if you have a job
===

A little NSFW?

Also, haha, sometimes I do have a job, but I get to do it from home when I do...so I'm impervious to NSFW. Normally I'm a lazy, full time student, hence the laughter.

I'm going to build an office that is exactly like this. It will be divided equally in half, with a 2 chairs opposite each other with a desk in between.

Each opposite wall will contain the exact same thing in the exact same (but opposite) position.

I want to create such an illusion to fuck with people who come into my office.

Also, it's not as though it was poorly written, I just wasn't in the mood for it at all and to be honest I'm not sure I ever will be.

I wasn't implying that the +2s on this post are boob fueled, by the way. I just wanted to convey my personal struggle is all.

This was very nice, a bit weird and rather dreamy. It would be a nice scene or setting for a short story, and I like the conversational tone.

i was listening to skeletons of society at top volume while i read this and it went together a lot better than maybe you'd expect.

i only question the expectation bit because slayer is anything but emo, and this... well this had a touch of the emo to it, now didn't it?

In a good way, this didn't make sense and then maybe it kind of did.
