I had a pint with Andy Cairns after they played Rock City, they were very cool.
Haha I thought they only released 'To See The Lights' which is, in my opinion, easy to listen to from beginning to end, there isn't a duff song.
I also had a smoke with Jez from The Levellers in the back of a Transit van parked up in front of a squat he was staying in after a gig in Sheffield. They don't seem to have faded into oblivion, I went to see them play in Sherwood Forest a couple of years ago.

Therapy? were cool, and the Levellers were (are) fucking awesome.
Incidentally, I should point out that by record, I meant single, and when I saw Gene it was 2003 or possibly 4 so WAY after they hit it big and then slid all the way back down to being a pub band again. depressing.

I liked Gene.
But I also liked Ned's Atomic Dustbin, PWEI, Therapy? Sisters of Mercy and The Levellers.
So what do I know.
Ha.
I will never forgive them for making me think they were half decent based on one record.
I thought they only made one record before disbanding.
Anyway, stage size isn't comparable to success. I turned down the chance to see KOL at The Rescue Rooms in Notts a few years back now they only play areas. Everyone has to start somewhere.

For Fuck's Sake woman, stop whoring out Gene. They were shit, okay? deal with it.
I once foolishly went to see them live and was unsurprised to find that the 'venue' was actually a moderately large pub stage. Me and the 10 other people who could be bothered to listen just spent the entirity of their painful hour-long set waiting for them to play 'for the dead' which they did as an encore, naturally, and sadly turned out to be far shitter than I remember.
