If the Australian government has there way I may not be able to visit Ubersite in the future. The site would certainly be among those put on The Australian Communications and Media Authorities secret blacklist, which bans sites within Australia that are deemed inappropriate to the public at the ISP level. Certainly some are logical and wouldn't bother me, child porn etc, being high on the list. But when you look closer it also blocks anything deemed "related to terrorism" or just generally inappropriate.
A popular Australian broadband discussion forum Whirlpool.net.au was recently threatened by the agency with an $11,000 a day fine for one of its members posting links to an anti abortion website that showed dead fetuses. Inappropriate for adults to view in Australia apparently. Not to mention hard core fetish sites are high on the blacklist, so if you get off to goat porn or people sticking things in their asses, you'd better start filling that hard drive while you still can.
The internet censorship down under is among the most restrictive in the western world and people are comparing it to Denmark and Thailand where those countries began banning porn sites and have now moved on to blacklisting forums and blogs that discussed political descent within the countries. Wikipedia editors have made fun of the issue by editing the ent
The best part is that that Australia already has among the worst most expensive and poorest quality internet in the developed world, ranking 78th in the world last I checked, behind economic powerhouses like Mexico and Bolivia. It costs me twice the amount for here that it did when I lived in Canada for half the quality and 1/5th the download quota.
Apparently the blacklist is currently around 1500 websites long but is expected to grow to over 10,000 sites, surely Uber will be among those with how much porn and insensitive material you freaks post. Otherwise this country has been great so far, but the days where you can lay on the beach and surf websites where naked midgets lick peanut butter from each others privates while learning how to make pipe bombs and watching meat spin appear to be over.
I'll keep my Canadian citizenship so that when China invades Australia in 20 years I can flee home and hide behind Uncle Sams skirt. They already have the communist China internet censorship policies, its only a matter of time.
God Bless you Kevin Rudd.

A whistleblower site recently posted the entire "secret" blacklist and was then blocked from Australians at the ISP level. I assume you non Australians can read this right? Care to post it or email it to me?

Australia is becoming a police state, in Wa because of some douche cop and his douche wife poor me-ing about some pathetic injuries, it looks like mandatory jail term is going to be bought in for anyone who assualts a cop. Remember that assualt can be considered, just touching someone without their permission.
Besides, no matter how much you censor the net it isn't going to wipe out paedophiles, they will still be around and all you are doing is once again restricting the normal persons, slighty abnormal web viewing.

my favourite part of hockey isn't the hockey, or the fights, it's how the announcers segue so smoothly and matter of factly into calling the fights like they're just as much a part of the game.

The internet was such a testament to human ingenuity and held the promise of a great cultural evolutionary step forward.......and most people use it for porn.
It seems that people forget free speech's spouse, which is responsibility. If you want to practice your free speech, just remember it shouldn't mean you can say anything about anything and expect to not be held responsible.
I'm against censorship but I also have very little sympathy for people who publish extremist and inflammatory material, and then squeal with indignation when some watchdog group comes to shut them down. What did they expect? I don't neccessarily agree with shutting them down, but they should be prepared to defend themselves.

But, but, but, this will make my sick plans for disgusting extremist sites more difficult to follow through with. CIVIL LIBERTIES I TELLS YOU.
It just bothers me that Australia is becoming more of a police state it seems.

Not Jody's best.
He's been working hard lately and appears tired...it shows. Two nights before getting beat up by McGratton last night, he fought Parros.

Did you see this - http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/63221 ?
Of course I did...I start every morning by going to the Yahoo Sports NHL box scores...THEN, after I see who dropped the gloves, I go to HockeyFights.com to check out the action.

D. Apparently, Ubersite is chock-full of raging alcoholics - there are 3 users posting / commenting, the others are in bed with hangovers.

I'm a raging alcoholic who still comes to work despite the measure of hangover.

B. FG3 just restored my faith in humanity with one well reasoned and articulate argument.

Wow, that's pretty fucked up and a basically just stripping you of all your natural human rights. Who's to tell you that watching some dude split his penis open and then dildo it with a meat tenderizer isn't proper? I doubt ubersite will come across that list based solely on the traffic and the way Bart has it labled. It's not blocked for me at work and my company has a pretty tough threshold.
I guess Bart would be the only to answer this but my guess is that it's labled as a "serious writer's forum" and therefor would deter any authorities from black listing it.
Furthermore, are they black listing anonymizers?
