Vladimir Kush is a surrealist painter and sculptor who was born in Moscow and emigrated to the US in 1991. He calls his work "metaphorical realism." His biography is an interesting one, you should check it out. A friend of mine has befriended Kush, and is currently working with him on an animated film of his work. Here are some of his paintings.

Lishy this day is [age deleted]
(We can't permit the age repeated)
However, Lishy, be not concerned
Although this website sucks the worm
A birthday post still has its place
To draw a smile upon your face;
Instead of posts, this short review
Will simply, Lishy, have to do.

Oh, how it pleased the gods to see
Your height capped off at four foot three
To prove that good things come inside
Small packages (oh mmm, yes I'd)
But of your elfishness, no more
Let's celebrate the Uberwhore
Whom Snark both faps to and adores,
Your attitude, your wit - men know
This translates well when down below,
The countless circles jerked, the heat,
Cast from the right hand of my seat,
The willingness to use index or thumb
To stimulate the, well, you know the one.
Your only fault: blind loyalty
To sports teams from nearby Philly,
But if J. Werth would fit inside a box
I'd wrap him up in just his Phillies socks.

So Happy Birthday, Valerie
From Ubersite and Honalee

If you can't even figure out how to communicate with people in other 'communities' on the INTERNET without directing them to this website, forgive me if I don't put a lot of stock into your scathing assessment of me.

I am the epitome of decorum when I'm at the office.

I'm known as Office Bob in official office circles.

I would never yell things about boners in the office. I much prefer to yodel and I have to keep my junk under wraps because it's still sore from the tattoo.

The second one bothers me. There is a second bunch of clouds that has tendrils hanging below it similar to the balloon cloud, and people on a cliff looking in that direction. Is it me or did that one just drop the people it was carrying, and bystanders are pointing and laughing?

This is what I love about art. It's completely open to interpretation.

I love Kush's work.

Snark- let us take a tour of his galleries. Naked, of course.

---

LISHY!

He's a work for goodness sake... what if he gets called up to work on some computer issue?

How is he supposed to do that with a giant boner?

For shame.
===
Oh, my bad. I just assumed that everyone Snark works with is used to him wandering around yelling little boner this and BIG BONER! that.

p.s.- I hate the word boner. I think maybe it stems from the time my little sister and I named a stuffed dog we won at a carnival 'boner' because we liked to watch Growing Pains, and because the dog had a bone in his mouth. My uncle kept laughing when we said it but wouldn't tell us why. When I figured it out later, I felt hoodwinked.

Yes, Dearie, you can say whatever you want about whomever you wish, but when others do it, they are idiots. You bitch about the looks and likes of others, and you come out clean as a whistle. Fuck it, I'll just say what I wish in the future and you may cringe as needed.

-----------------------
I swear you revel in the attention i give you.

I rarely bitch about anything, you are the one leaving comments all over the place calling me 'cunt' and 'stupid whore' etc even when my comment is entirely innocent/fair.

Clean as a whistle? i have had plenty of shit thrown my way, including hate posts.

What do you mean, say what you wish? As if you don't already?

Seriously, are you having a go at me for not liking some art - which I still +2ed as I appreciated being shown something new, and had a little joke with saccy, which I am sure saccy entirely 'got'?

you are seriously fucked up Bubba.

You seem to be a woman with strong beliefs and opinions. The kind that tend to intimidate me a little.
I used to be like that once but this is still very much a man's world and one day it could grind you down too.
I certainly wasn't insinuating you left your armpits hairy and beat up men.
Though I bet you do beat up men really, Madam Whiplash style. :)
===

I don't think Orphelia was being a cunt, she was expressing her opinion.

That said, my daddy is my hero, and my best friend of 15 years is a man. I'm definitely strongly opinionated, but it's not my intent to intimidate. I have never agreed with the concept that the strong opinions of a woman somehow label her as feminist (implying that strong opinions are primarily a man's attribute). I'm 35 and I've been through a whole lot of shit (as so many of us have) at the hands of men and women, and if anything grinds me down, I'm fairly certain it isn't going to be gender inequality;)

Snark- let us take a tour of his galleries. Naked, of course.

And people call ME opinionated! Feely, why don't you just tell her to trim her to trim and shape her eyebrows, and maybe throw in a little something about dressing like a schoolgirl? Better yet, why don't you stop criticising other's looks and likes? OK, now Bubba's the asshole, because he pointed out that Feely was being a cunt. She has recent reason to be a whinging twat. I've always had mixed feelings about the word and the only thing I think they all have in common is the basic belief in gender equality. Beyond that, their philosophies are sometimes as different from each other as anyone else's. I'm not sure what makes you say that or what it means, so I'm neither flattered nor offended.

The artistic talent is unreal. But I wouldn't classify these as surrealist. These are more like little non sequiturs that are brilliantly drawn. I think just cause someone draws a trombone on an elephant head, doesn't always mean it's surreal.
===
Fair point. Surrealism is apparently how he is categorized. When it comes to visual arts, I'm not very genre-conscious anyway. I like what I like. In fact, surrealism as a whole isn't something I tend to gravitate toward.

The hardest part was choosing the pieces to include. The ones here aren't all my personal favorites- I just thought some would appeal to different people. He has some that are very detailed that I may like better, but couldn't find a decent sized image. I know some people have trouble opening these huge files so I didn't want to get carried away.

The artistic talent is unreal. But I wouldn't classify these as surrealist. These are more like little non sequiturs that are brilliantly drawn. I think just cause someone draws a trombone on an elephant head, doesn't always mean it's surreal.

But still...awesome talent.
