Its that time of year again, the most grueling playoffs of any sport, where teams must win 16 games to claim the championship. Where millionaire players play for free for 6-8 weeks, battling injuries, getting stitches on the bench and not missing a shift. Even with my home team out of it the playoffs are always exciting. If you feel like getting into a fantasy hockey pool I set up a league on The Sporting News website, simple format of 6 skaters and a goalie, free to play with prizes if you win the lottery and beat out the probably 50 thousand other teams.
Anyway, heres the link:
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/hockey/playoffs/basic/home.html
Enter your team name, click join existing league, search Ubersite (one word), join. Simple as that.

Here are my first round predictions, since I know how valued my opinion is around here:
San Jose vs. Anaheim - San Jose in 6
Detroit vs Columbus - Detroit in 6
St. Louis vs. Vancouver - Vancouver in 7
Chicago vs. Calgary - Calgary in 7
Boston vs. Montreal - Boston in 4
NY Rangers vs Washington - Washington in 6
New Jersey vs. Carolina - Carolina in 7
Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia - Pittsburgh in 7
Finals:
San Jose vs Boston - Boston win in 7
I like San Jose to finally stop getting upset in the second round and go deep this year, but Boston franchises that were formerly dysfunctional and bottom feeders turning it around and winning championships has become the trend in beantown lately, so the Boston mystique will push the Bruins on a miracle run to match their amazing regular season. Thornton will score 10 points in the finals against his former team but lose. Drama ensues.
Heres a preview of the matchups and wrap up of the regular season stats leaders.

Vancouver in 4 doesn't really help my stats though.

Not a lot of surprises so far.
Except maybe Washington. It's the 2nd time Ovechkin is in playoffs and both time he was neutralized. Joe Thorton anyone?
Markov can't come back soon enough with Habs.
I wished St-Louis and Columbus did better.
Sharks choking...what a surprise

I hope I am wrong but they finished the regular season in a funk.

Calgary in 7?
The Blackhawks MURDERED them this year. They beat the crap out of Calgary even without their injuries. Throw home ice into the equation, and the fact that the 'hawks are 6-0-1 in their last seven games, and you've got the equation for Blackhawks in 4 or 5 games.
You're drunk.

Yah more hope than anything. Went with the more experienced veteran team over the young team their first time in the playoffs. Even if Chicago wins it will be a minimum of 6 games, 4-5 and you're the one who's drunk sir.

i'm fricking pumped about the b's/sharks series. Every other matchup between the two this year has been a battle, and I don't suspect the playoffs will be any different. I hope it's a physical, emotional series, that the Bs win in 4 or 5 games, and it energizes them for the rest of the playoffs. When they're physical, all 4 lines are scoring, and Thomas is playing his best, the B's can't be beat
Go bruins.

Boston in 4, yeah right.
Have you ever seen Habs-Bruins series? This is the only real rivalry in the league right now. Last year, Habs had beaten Boston 11 times in a row in regular season and were first in East, yet it took them 7 games to take out a team of Boston's AHLers, who almost won the series. In 2004, Boston was 2nd and Habs won. In 2002, Boston was first and Habs won too.
I don't think Habs will win but there's nothing guaranteed in Habs-Bruins series. All I know is that based on their last game together, it will be fucking war! =)
As for your other predictions, I don't know much about the West though I would hope that St-Louis, my other favourite team, did well. In the East, I think you overestimated Carolina and underestimated the Rangers. The Devils will rape Carolina and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rangers win this series. Pittsburg-Philly will certainly be interesting.

Har har. If I was a real risk taker I would have said Detroit vs Boston. And although it may look pretty ho hum with my 1 vs 1 being an Oiler fan I've usually take the upsets, especially in the first round, must be the fan of underdogs in me. Go back and look at similiar posts of mine around this time of year since 2004. But this year, it just seems right. The east looks pretty wide open, I wouldn't be shocked to see someone else snatching it, but its a two team show with SJ and Detroit in the west, imo. The 3-8th teams just dont seem as together.
Oh well, risky or not IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN!

a 1 seed vs a 1 seed in finals?
Oh god, why would you make such risky picks?
Does the D in MD stand for Dangerous?
San Jose will always suffer from 2nd round upset syndrome, and Boston will flame out like the 05-06 Senators.
Columbus will go all the way.

Does Xanax make you hyper? I thought it was supposed to mellow you out...DAMN MY FUCKING PILLHEAD FUCKING SISTER!!
I took my first (and likely last...I'm not much on pills) Xanax this evening. I made excellent money on Friday night, kicked ass at work, bought golf clubs & scheduled my first golf lesson, then went to Hooters, smoked a bunch of weed and watched "Observe & Report" on Saturday/Saturday night, and went fishing with my Dad and ate a BOMB FUCKING ASS Easter dinner with the parents, then studied this evening. Oh, and had a Xanax which made me feel slightly drunk.
Now I'm about to stop typing and leave this post alone and go to fucking sleep.
I know, I know, STFU Sage, no one cares about my weekend but me. :) BUT IT WAS AWESOME AND I'M SUPER HAPPY!! YAY HAPPY PILLS!!
