Okay, watch this video (http://www.iheartchaos.com/content/coming-gay-storm-will-destroy-all-life-earth-we-know-it-more-you-know).
Now, answer these questions:
The Mexican(?)and the old guy say "same sex advocates want to bring the issue into my life." What issue? What he hell are you talking about?
Next, college chick says her "freedom will be taken away." The freedom to do...? What exactly? To not be discriminated against because they don't believe what you believe?
The California doctor must choose between her faith and her job. Because? Gays don't deserve medical care if they are married? I don't get it. Oh, doc, don't forget about choosing between your faith and the HIPPOCRATIC FUCKIN' OATH!
How are church groups punished for not supporting gay marriage?
DAMN YOU MASSACHUSETTS! You should only be teaching math and creation! I doubt that this is taught in schools, massmom. Have any evidence?
How do they want to change the way you live? What choice don't you have?!?
Is it irony that Damon Owens says they have a "rainbow coalition"? Seriously, Damon?
BEWARE THE STORM! MOTHERFUCKER COMMIN' FAST!

I find it adorable that everyone will scream about the fundi's on this post, but blast me for for talking smack on them on my own post.
That .jpg rules, by the way...

Wanna know why?
Deadtoast isn't decrying the religion. Religion is never even mentioned. He simply commented on the issue at hand; Gay marriage and this organization's reaction to it with unfounded fear mongering.
Other people mentioned the religious part, not the poster.

I haven't a DAMNED problem with same sex marriage. Teaching kids in school that it's ok to be gay isn't a problem, but I can't see why we need to teach that in schools. The government is really trying to take on responsibilities that should lye on the parents, such as sex ed. I'm straight and I know a few girls who are bi. Seeing things from their viewpoint has really opened my eyes to the situation. I can't see why the USA claims to provide freedom for all when we don't allow gays to be married. Bringing the churches into this is wrong in my opinion; it should be a legal thing for gays not a religious if the church they belong in doesn't allow for gays to be married.

Allowing conscience into the equation is dangerous. The Jehovah's witness ER doctor who doesn't believe in blood transfusions is treating you? The pharmacist doesn't want to dispense your anti-retroviral HIV treatment because she thinks you're gay? You live in East Bumfuck, OH and the only pharmacy within a hundred miles doesn't want to dispense your Plan B because they think fucking is for kids and marriage? Too bad!
----------------------------------------------------
I've heard several news stories where things like this have happened. I don't know if they already do this, but I think doctors, pharmacists, EMTs, nurses, police, and everyone else in a caretaking position should have to sign something during their job interview assuring that their personal beliefs will not hinder them from performing their job.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought that was called the hippocratic oath...?
=============================
Don't know if this one slipped under the radar for you but Bush tried to pass legislation making it criminal, for example, for a pharmacy to fire a pharmacist on the grounds they refused to fill a prescription due to their religious beliefs.
I'm not 100% on the second part but I think he was also going for criminalization of asking during a job interview (asking about religion as a qualification is akin to asking sexual orientation and the like)
Scary shit. You might be bummed about the government's recession plan but aren't you glad you have a Con Law professor at the helm for things like this?

Translation of the Hippocratic Oath by Michael North, National Library of Medicine, 2002.:
--
I swear by Apollo the physician, and Asclepius, and Hygieia and Panacea and all the gods and goddesses as my witnesses, that, according to my ability and judgement, I will keep this Oath and this contract:
To hold him who taught me this art equally dear to me as my parents, to be a partner in life with him, and to fulfill his needs when required; to look upon his offspring as equals to my own siblings, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or contract; and that by the set rules, lectures, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to students bound by this contract and having sworn this Oath to the law of medicine, but to no others.
I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgement, and I will do no harm or injustice to them.
I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.
In purity and according to divine law will I carry out my life and my art.
I will not use the knife, even upon those suffering from stones, but I will leave this to those who are trained in this craft.
Into whatever homes I go, I will enter them for the benefit of the sick, avoiding any voluntary act of impropriety or corruption, including the seduction of women or men, whether they are free men or slaves.
Whatever I see or hear in the lives of my patients, whether in connection with my professional practice or not, which ought not to be spoken of outside, I will keep secret, as considering all such things to be private.
So long as I maintain this Oath faithfully and without corruption, may it be granted to me to partake of life fully and the practice of my art, gaining the respect of all men for all time. However, should I transgress this Oath and violate it, may the opposite be my fate.
--
Note the bit about abortions and euthanasia and swearing to gods and goddesses and "according to divine law".

Where's the rating for "Good topic, but made me frown"?
This is all a massive load of horseshit.
1) Firstly, it isn't a goddamn PHARMACY TECH's place to refuse you the treatment your doctor has deemed fit (Their education is community college level. Fact: you do not require a B.Sc in pharmacy to dispense medication)
2) Plan B and contraceptives are not abortifacitents. If they were, it's none of their goddamn business.
3) If you're early enough along for your doctor to prescribe an abortifacitent, you've got an EMBRYO, not a FETUS. Know the difference? An embryo is an undiscernable clump of cells with no contracting muscles that will soon develop into a heart. It is a clump of cells.
4) N.B.: the abortion argument is a strawman. No one's talking about forcing Christian doctors who don't have the training to perform an abortion to do an abortion. This is about stopping the withholding of information on your reproductive rights (i.e. Telling you Planned Parenthood down the street can discuss those options instead of refusing to provide information)
In a more simplified case, this is equivalent to a Roman Catholic doctor refusing to not only prescribe you birth control, but to tell you about your options or to inform you of where you can learn about your choices.
Allowing conscience into the equation is dangerous. The Jehovah's witness ER doctor who doesn't believe in blood transfusions is treating you? The pharmacist doesn't want to dispense your anti-retroviral HIV treatment because she thinks you're gay? I'm just tired of how trendy it is to be gay. People that vehemently deny it and then find themselves in the niche of a gay community become adamant preachers. It's horseshit. It's okay to be gay, and I don't care what you do when your gay, and I realize that there is a gay community about it, but I don't see heteros having hetero parades, or hetero outbursts like this...

Couldn't agree more. I earnestly believe that if the gays would fight quietly, they would win a lot more. If they didn't shove their gayness in everybody's face, they could slip under the radar and accomplish their goals.
Like the Jews.
I kid, the Jews.
I meant the Scientologists.

I had no idea bigotry could be wrapped in such a warm fuzzy blanket.
In a perfect world, all those people would be shipped off to a deserted island and left to beat each other to death with the holy book of their choice.
Or they could just shut the fuck up and do the whole live and let live thing.
Right now there is an uproar here regarding the rumor that the National Anthem may be sung in Hindi during the 2010 Winter Olympic opening ceremonies. The rednecks are wetting their pants on a pretty regular basis over it. It's funny and disturbing to watch. Some people seriously need a hug.

An amazing amount of people don't realise that "marriage" has changed numerous times over human history and they assume that the current definition and aspects of marriage are as they were thousands of years ago.
Repeatedly probed and questioned, these people ultimately have to admit that all of their objections to gay marriage falls under either 1) 'I don't like it,' 2) God forbids it. Usually it's a combo of the two.
I don't think it can be demonstrated that if gays are allowed to marry, hetero marriages will be lessened.
All the "reasons" given by these people are non-sequiturs, i.e. "If we allow gay marriage, what's to stop us allowing pedophilia?" or any of the other outrageous scare tactic questions these people rhetorically ask.
