I walk the lonely streets,
And the dark retreats
Of night, and day, and dawn
And look for a way to timidly say,
'I do not want to be alone from here on.'
I walk the star brightened nights,
And see the lover's fights
Of passion, and ecstasy, and rage
And look for a reason of passion or treason
But find none, and turn the page.
I have seen the fearful highs and lows
Of love that quickly comes and goes,
But find no true feeling in the end.
I feel my heart is spent, and I will not repent,
For I see no reason for my feelings to mend.
I have seen the blood and rage of lovers' sin,
And have not thought of what has happened therein.
But I often wonder, what is it that made love go wrong?
Is it weakness or envy that they saw in me,
That made this 'perfect love' say, 'So long'?
That is what it says, 'So long', and 'Farewell',
As it leaves me to reside in my hell.
But as I have learned, from the time I burned,
That I cannot make people see what it is that is in me
Which makes me so agitated and concerned.
I dare not even now to try to explain,
What it is that makes me so insane.
I will say that it is the friendly way
That people lead me and the way they feed me,
The lies of love and promise that are so easy to say.
I walk these lonely streets and wonder
In the dark retreats, that if I sought and sunder
My heart of its weaknesses and its ways,
That I could be free and have myself foresee
Of one day that I will die in a lover's gaze.

Way too many poems about love/lovers as it is, but they keep popping out, just like trailer trash

Not bad. Sometimes all it takes is time to wash the "triteness" away.
Here's an old post along the same vein, if I may (also somewhat trite, in and of itself):

Because you clearly watched too much movies.
look, proportionally to GDP and population, Canada (as so did most countries) has contributed more than the US in both World War, especially WWI. the US joined so late in both case, it's only normal.
no one is diminishing the american contribution, but you have to understand that even though that the US might had a huge impact, for smaller countries who didn't change much, the sacrifice was even bigger than it was for yours. that's the point here.
so when you mock it and are being an arrogant douche by saying it's laughable, what do you think happens? people stop helping you out and all these little countries add up in the end.
the US is quite lonely in iraq right now don't you think? and it would be even worse if all those "laughable" countries pulled out of afghanistan, a war that only concerns americans.
anyway...i have to leave work. i just realized i spent the afternoon schooling a retard :-(

Proportional to what? Population? Military size? How much beer is consumed per capita? Canada has contributed (I'm not denying that), but you can't even begin to compare the level of sacrifice the American military has endured.

Australia has contributed way more than Canada has in the Middle East efforts. Don't go pulling fictional information out of your ass to prove your point. Let me reiterate, I'm a veteran. I was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and I served from August of 2000 to July of 2004. That's an accomplishment and a real one that I use to inflate my chest and rightfully so. People are proud of their lineage and it has everything to do with them. Why do some Americans have red hair? Irish possibly. People like to know as much about themselves as possible. Nothing wrong with that.

I've noticed this phenomena many times in my life. While Americans say that kind of thing amongst themselves all the time and think nothing of it, people from other countries HATE to hear Americans say, in an offhand manner, "I'm Irish" or I'm part Welsh."
===
i just think that using your heritage to look exotic and special makes you (you generally here) look insecure. we're not our grand-parents, we're just people with various citizenships.
i also think it's kinda bad form to use ancestors just for to get attention. when does one really think about his great great great parents? answer: never.
so remembering once in a while for the purpose of making yourself look interesting is not something very classy, even if they're dead and don't give a shit. it's even worse when people (and american do this a lot) take credit for their veterans, especially WWII.

I think on their part part it's an "i'm the real thing and you're not" attitude.
Specifically with Caulaincourt, He hates to be referred to as French, he considers himself Canadian or maybe French-Canadian at the oputside. So he hates it when Americans claim to be anything other than "American", which being the American hater that he is, is a term he equates with slobbering mongrel dog.

I always thought that every rating did count because if a person comes back and rates with a zero on multiple occasions after having rated with a plus two on the first occasion, it dilutes the rating somehow. actually, an average of rating per user affects the rating. not only the 1st one.
so if you rate one +2
then rate again a 0 twice.
you'll have given a post 0+2+2/3 or 0.66 rating.
so you can give as many +2s as you want, it still remains one +2 for one post.

I'm pretty stubborn and can be contrary as well, but find Caul to be particularly grating. I think he just likes to get a reaction out of people and when he's proven wrong he "backpedals" or will tell you to shut up or tell you you're too stupid to argue with; that's his M.O.
It's all good though, sometimes its fun to rile each other up, especially if you're bored at work with nothing better to do. Gets the blood flowing.

you created a website for this shit. wow.
Second: I don't give a shit how much any certain area has produced (you choose quantity over quality, I see). """
literature is not made in a factory, shithead. quantity does create quality.
Third: I remember a majority of every class I've taken and I can tell you France was hardly ever a subject. """"
no one cares about your subclass education. based on this poem, you were clearly more busy fantisizing about boys than studying.
Fourth: It is impossible for English to be good for prose and lyrics, but not for poetry as prose/lyrics is a poetry of sort. """
i was obviously talking about structured rhyming poety, like this shit you made. but if you want to talk semantics...actually, let's not.
Fifth: While English might not be considered a Latin language, it has borrowed and adapted a lot of structure and vocabulary from Latin. """
still can't get the point, shittard? who cares about vocabulary? english actually has more vocabulary than most languages, but it still fails miserably at rhyming poetry. it doesn't have phonetics like the "u" or rolling "r" or the "àêéèô", etc, etc... it also doesn't have gender. and conjugaisons is very simple and standard in english. all of these make english actually quite useful as a day to day language, but when it's time to make rhyming verses, the possibilities are pretty limited. you can't understand why cuz you only speak english.
Sixth: I do not have an English-only point of view. I'm pretty damn fluent in German and can get by in Spanish and Russian. """
spare me. i know what the defenition of "fluent" is for americans. they know 2-3 stereotypical words they saw in movies and think they are polyglot.

we're talking about poetry here. not random contemporary writers like Dr. Phil, which you probably studied for a semester.
most of the poetry that left a footpring was during a certain period of time. it's not a question of what i think or arrogance, you insecure shitead. HISTORICALLY, france or italy simply produced a lot more literature in those periods in terms of sheer volume. perhaps the fact that there were 4-5 times more people in france alone than in great britain at the beginning of those currents helped a bit?
besides, you don't even seem to remember correctly what you "studied".
look, english is good for prose and is a great lyric language.
but it quickly falls short in poetry, lacking the possibilities the latin languages have to fit in structure verses. the absence of certain phonetics, gender and standard conjugaison make english most poems very redundant, unoriginal and feel like they were written by myspace emos. case in point, you had to steal this from an obscure website.
you can argue with me all you want, but with your english-only POV it's not like you know what you're talking about, right?
please remain silent, now.

Influential where? France? Who gives a shit. I've taken almost enough Literature courses to have a Bachelor's Degree (note: that's not even my major), and a French writer has hardly ever been mentioned. Maybe it's because my American education (no, that is not an oxymoron) is biased against French or it could be because French writing just isn't as great as you think. If I remember correctly more Irish, Scottish, German, or Russian writers were covered in their national singularity than French.

I walk the lonely streets,
Prowling kids who trick or treats
A child, alone on a lawn
I look for a way to timidly say,
I got candies in my van, come on!
Stars are dim, it's a dark night
Fortunately cuz he's putting up a fight
With passion, and ecstasy, and rage
I seek strenght to repress my hard on
But find none, and rape the underage
The end

I have seen the fearful highs and lows
Of love that quickly comes and goes,
But find no true feeling in the end.
I feel my heart is spent, and I will not repent,
For I see no reason for my feelings to mend.

The myriad choices of his fate
Set themselves out upon a plate
For him to choose
What had he to lose
Not a ghost bloodied country
All covered with sleep
Where the black angel did weep
Not an old city street in the east
Gone to choose
And wanderings brother
Walked on through the night
With his hair in his face
On a long splintered cut from the knife of g.t.
The rally mans patter ran on through the dawn
Until we said so long
To his skull-shrill yell
Shining brightly red-rimmed and
Red-lined with the time
Infused with the choice of the mind
On ice skates scraping chunks
From the bells
Cut mouth bleeding razors
Forgetting the pain
Antiseptic remains cool goodbye
So you fly
To the cozy brown snow of the east
Gone to choose, choose again
Sacrificials remains make it hard to forget
Where you come from
The stools of your eyes
Serve to realize fame, choose again
And rovermans refrain of the sacrilege recluse
For the loss of a horse
Went the bowels and a tail of a rat
Come again, choose to go
And if epiphanys terror reduced you to shame
Have your head bobbed and weaved
Choose a side to be on
If the stone glances off
Split didactics in two
Leave the colors of the mouse trails
Don't scream, try between
If you choose, if you choose, try to lose
For the loss of remain come and start
Start the game I che che che che i
Che che ka tak koh
