This is a very deep question.
Boredom is a state of mind, whereas the definition of assholes is open to further definition. You can say that you can control boredom, but if you have someone who is an asshole, they could alleviate boredom by just being an asshole and making you constantly laugh.
Unless you're gay. Then, assholes are your thing. But, those are man-assholes.

Yes, you could partner up with someone. When I raised Angora goats, the power companies and some land owners would pay me to set up solar electric fences and turn my goats loose to eat the brush. Angora goats are also eligible for incentive payments because they are fiber animals. The Dept. of Forestry also puts these clearing contracts up for bids. You would go out to the land they want cleared and tell them how much you would charge them. If you are the lowest responsible bidder you get the contract, then somebody has to keep the solar fences in good shape and watch over the flocking flock....
If I see the contact info for this I will post it. This is a better way to keep the brush down than using toxic herbicides that leach down into the water supply. The City of San Francisco has a lot of power lines running for miles and miles, and they are paying big bucks to keep it cleared. Big bucks also means big work. You must have help.

that is incredibly good to know. i'm interested in sheep and other fiber animals for the yarn. i'm also willing to move almost anywhere in the colder half of the us. please do post the info if you find it. i'm going to call and see what i can find out but it'd be nice to have specifics.

i would honestly like to hear more about that. does the department of agriculture help set you up with jobs? because i've been looking through loads of federal orgs about working in parks and stuff but i didn't really think about that. i don't have my own land for sheep so i'd definitely have to work for/with someone.

c) they don't slaughter so many sheep AT the farm. on slightly larger farms those are sent out to be butchered unless it's the personal stock of whatever.

WOO clarice! I have been a sheep farmer. I spin and weave and have had all kinds including Mouflons and Icelandics. They seem far down on the animal intelligence scale, but the lambs are fun to watch. There are also "Wool Incentive" payments from the Dept. of Agriculture , and that can be very encouraging. Good luck, I hope you find the perfect job.

i'm contemplating going back to work in fast food somewhere because i can't remember if dealing with irate asshole customers was worse than the excruciating boredom of my job now. it paid about the same, benefits included and at least there was always something to clean or stack or check the date on or cook or organize or SOMETHING. if this post isn't proof of hindered brain activity i don't know what is.
