This place has really died, it looks like. Used to be an oldtimer could log in and see new post after new post. There would be good and bad posts, but new posts all the same. Now I log in to peep into the Ubersite world and see the same exact posts from the day before, with 3 new ones.
Schlongy's still here, Rob Berg, I saw a whiny post about someone quitting because they could't take the alters anymore, and in it it said Kaos is still hanging around. Is Jack Mccallum still here? And how about Ghola? Who are the writers that hold everyones attention now? What posts( when any are on here) should I read, and which ones should I disregard? What posts will be on here?
Since there isn't a lot of posts on here to read I Guess I will have to post some crap for you to hate and do whatever to, up to and including this drivel to find out what has been happening in my 8 month hiatus from here.

I'll admit to having resorted to Trolling (somewhat) and I just lack the energy to post much anymore. I come here when I'm bored at work and I'm not gonna sit down and write something while I'm at work.

I remember a time when every morning there would be a fresh page of new posts. Granted, 2/3 of them were shit, but going through them all would kill an hour of my morning - maybe longer if I wanted to comment or argue. By noon, there would be an entire page of new posts to waste time on in the afternoon.
I drop by 2 or 3 times a week anymore, because there's rarely worthwhile anything here.

i think it's funny that this discussion continues. everyone who was here when something posted did not last on the front page the entire day probably has an idea of how to contribute to drawing traffic again. I lurked for quite a while before I posted anything, it got favorable reviews, but very few total. My opinion is that the only posts people bother with are the cliquey posts where users post about other users, any post where a flame war can be conjured for the sake of a flame war, and anybody that posts who is in possession of a vagina no matter the content. If a penis owner posts the exact same thing as the recipient of a clitoris, the penis owner is bashed and scorned and the clit owner is praised and admired yet proving the theory that "HAI I'm RELLY A GRRL! LOOK AT ME!" on the internet really, really works.
However, I do agree with Kaos_King that there is little reason to write something and post it when it will be ignored or -2ed with "No Comments"s and "This was shit"s but no real critisism save for the anonymity provided insults and slurs.

Hmmm... I agree with you to some extent.
You're right that more & more websites are being developed that draw more specific crowds than Uber. Uber is quite broad, but I suppose that's always what I've found is part of its appeal. A user isn't confined to one certain genre or field of creativity, but is able to share an assortment of media as a means to represent themselves. I think that's pretty fucking cool.
And I believe you're absolutely right about the hostile environment that new users find themselves in. Half of that is the nature of Uber itself, half of that is us. We users have not only become so overly critical and negative, but we've become insanely paranoid - EVERY new user we immediately deemed an Alter. Hell, we HAVE to! Guilty until proven innocent. Sure, it may be fun for the 25 of us left here, but why the fuck would any new user want to stay on?
Yeah, I get some good & helpful reviews along with all the shit ones. I'm lucky enough to have just as many folks like me as I have hate me here. But what about others? What about those new users I just spoke of? At least my crap might get evened out at a zero. They'll get knocked off the front page without even getting a chance...

The reason people are leaving is not what you say, that's an excuse. people are growing up, finding other things in their lives to occupy them,children, work etc etc and are getting bored of coming to the same site. Added to this, millions of websites have developed over the years catering to specific needs unlike uber which does not specifically cater for writers/poets or art fiends.
ubers a place to come when you are a little bored and fancy a laugh or waste a bit of time. Maybe in the past you had more users with better quality submissions but the lack of this is due to what I mentioned above and human behaviour. The madness of course will decrease as people get older and newer users are harder to attract/come by.

and I wasnt making a "Uber is teh sucksores now, dubba eww tee eff" post, I was just commenting on how slow it is now, which is even slower than it was last time I came back here.
And who are the good posters and bad posters? Which ones, other than the old standbys, should I read, and which names should I just bypass?

Thinking about that has made me understand the importance of disney movies educatiing children how to pretend to be real people. They need to make them a bit realer though, have Aladdin taking advantage of all his friends when he's lazy and learning the value of hard work via poverty rather than all this bullshit with a magic lamp.
I suppose that where Disney finishes Charlton Heston picks up.

I did. Then I started to try my hand at posting, then I grew bored and left. The cycle then starts again, and again. And probably again, unless the next 8 month hiatus is the last breath for this site...

Yeah this place is quiet as fuck - but I just bet if every time an 'old timer checked back in' they churned out 1 quality post this place would be hoppin' ... but instead most of you dorks just lurk, comment, and occasionally hanker down and squeeze out a post like this.
This place is dead... but it still has it's moments.

The problem now has been the same problem its always been; more negativity than positive attitude. In order to cultivate more posts you need a positive atmoshpere that encourages people to post. Ideally you then need a standard to aspire to.
I'd say that those two forces got rather out of kilter and the community grew entropic. I prefer the smaller community, although I do miss some of the banter. Did anyone really ever come here to read the posts though?
