We'll miss you (sniff)... I can't say I agree/disagree with free sharing of copyrighted material, but it's unfortunate that governments continue to target those on the side of file-sharing technology as opposed to the individuals actually violating the copyrights. It's typically a waste of time & resources as undoubtedly there are hundreds of other torrent engines primed to pick up the pirate slack. Regardless of where you fall on the issue of piracy, we can probably all agree that TPB simply became a victim of their size and popularity. 25 Million unique peers have participated in file sharing at ThePirateBay in some form or another.

That being said, I had noted a self-perception of invincibility over the years as publishers had tried to force removal of listings of their content from the Pirate Bay only to be 'clowned' and their interactions made public on TPB's home-page. It may also have helped if they hadn't chosen a historical occupation that is now synonymous with copyright infringement to moniker their offering and serve as part of the web address.

I have no specific knowledge of Swedish courts, but if The Pirate Bay's owners were facing prison time here in the US, I'm afraid they'd soon be introduced to an entirely new kind of 'pirate'.
---

And here's an unrelated set of lyrics just to fill some space:

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his pen...
---
Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When your chewin on lifes gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best

And, always look on the bright side of life
(whistle)
Always look on the light side of life
(whistle)

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And thats to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When your feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
That's the thing

And, always look on the bright side of life
(whistle)
Always look on the light side of life
(whistle)

For life is quite absurd
And deaths the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bang
Forget about your sins
Give the audience a grin
Enjoy it, it's yoour last chance to get out

So always look on the bright side of death
(whistle)
Just before you draw your terminal breath
(whistle)

Lifes a piece of Shit
When you look at it
Lifes a laugh and deaths a joke its true
You'll see its all a show
Keep 'em laughin' as you go
Just remeber that the last laugh is on you

And, always look on the bright side of life
(whistle)
Always look on the right side of life
(whistle)

Here's what's posted on their site right now:
---
(Back online in a few hours.)
We have, ourselves, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once more able to defend our Internets, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.
Even though large parts of Internets and many old and famous trackers have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Ifpi and all the odious apparatus of MPAA rule, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the ef-nets and darknets, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Internets, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the baywords.org, we shall fight on the /. and on the digg, we shall fight in the courts;
we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, the Internets or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the Anon Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in Cerf's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
TPB Crew, for now and until when needed.
---

A little melodramatic, but nice to see they're working through their issues. The MPAA is crazy - trust me on that. They're worse, in different ways, than the RIAA ever was!

I'm afraid I must buck the trend and say buh bye to TPB. I did use it relatively regularly and liked the fact they had the guts to openly support Anonymous.

I am on the side of http://www.eff.org/

I've been file sharing and keeping a healthy share ratio on torrent sites for years. I have never once used Pirate Bay. Soulseek for P2P. Bitsoup is my favorite 'little' guy to support for torrents, and for variety/speed, Demonoid FTW.

Without having read this, let me just say that pirate bay sucked balls. Torrent-finder.com has a much more comprehensive torrent search.

Torrent Finder doesn't actually index or track anything itself.

==========

No shit? Torrent-finder was the slut of the torrent world, opening her filthy flaps for any and all willing to sail in her filthy cabin; absolutely nothing added to the idea of community that has sprung up around file sharing.

They tried to get around the shut down with a DNS relocation, hopefully they'll be back.

Until then, Demonoid wins.

ah, you've forgotten the candles and red type. and the fact that i don't give a shit.

BUT CARRY ON LITTLE SOLDIER.

ONE DAY YOU'LL BE A HERO. EPIC. VALIANT. BRAVE. DARING. COURAGEOUS. PERHAPS YOU'LL RETURN HOME WITH A TASTE FOR BLOOD AND SEX ACTS WITH UNDERAGED BROWN GIRLS.

WHO KNOWS, NOBLE WARRIOR, WHO KNOWS?

I've figured out the boy's punishment. First, he's grounded. No
leaving the house, not even for school. Second, no eggnog. In fact,
no nog, period. And third, absolutely no stealing for three months.
