There were some great battles waged, and glory is upon those hoary demented combatants. And, on the other claws, there were some who could not muster the unholy energy to crawl from their crypts and engage their opponents. Thus the field narrows.
Two who fought valiantly to but yet fell are reanimated for this round, because as Gruemaster I have that option. Their efforts showed them worthy to take the places of some who did not join the fray in Round 1.
On to Round 2!

I hate to do this, but I've got to forfeit. I'm unbelieveably blocked. Maybe it was better to have titles assigned because I found that when I wasn't given one, everything went down the crapper. But that's not how things worked out this year.
It's been busy at work and once I was home, I had everything under the sun pop up.
Damn. With all the twisted and perverse things that scurry about in my mind at any given time, they all went and hid on me when I really needed them.

Ryland - write what you'd like. Uber has lots of writing contests. This one is Grueberfest, so it's supposed to be scary. If you can't or won't write scary stuff, then write what you can/will. What you put down last round was not bad at all, so maybe you underestimate your abilities.

Thus with a simple calculation and verifying that the ten remaining were all in fact among the original twenty, you'll quickly arrive at the conclusion that ten contestants were eliminated in the first round.
