I fucking love this show.
I'm not going to write at length about it, it's just an awesome show.

Why do people jizz on this show so much?
It's probably one step up from your usual Everybody Loves Raymond sitcom trash, it just has what some marketing panel has determined to be "cool young people".
I can tolerate it if I'm stoned as shit, but it's a million miles from excellence like Aqua Teen or Arrested Development.

Watch it from season 1, you'll absolutely change your mind about it. plus the actors also created and wrote the first series, After that I don't know...
Arrested Development is great but it had the backing of Ron Howard, would have a massive budget, a team of writers and a huge, proven cast. Philadelphia was written by friends who wanted to create a show and just went out and filmed it on VHS, you also get the feeling that the show would be the exact same if it was for an audience of 2 people or 10 Million
incidentally philadelhia pulls in 2.2 million viewers and - arreseted development 6 million in the first season and then down to 4M in the last season
