27th Septemeber I will be in the Guiness Book of records. Not many people can say that, although its not a one person record.
I have signed up to be one of 900 (up to now) different Smart car drivers to drive from London to Brighton in a VERY large convoy which will be one of the most amazing sights anyone will ever see. The previous record was somewhere around 1200 VW beetles in one big convoy so we are going to try and beat that. Most people wont have a clue what Im talking about so I have attached a few links at the bottom.
Basic explanation: Smart cars are made by Mercedes and they suit their name. They have the best fuel economy, really good safety record and they have tiptronic or automatic gears depending on how lazy you feel. They have 600cc turbo charged engines and go like Linford Christie on whizz.
I bought a Smart car a year ago, almost to the day (which was previously owned by a footballer (soccer player) Abel Xavier) and I love it. Its the best thing I have ever bought. Some people think they are ugly (Loren) but you all know you mustn't judge a book by its cover!
I have now found that these cars are one of the fastest growing cars in the UK and now there are whole communities of people who have one and they meet up at weekends and race and shit. These things are the new minis but turbo charged. And soon they will be in America so keep you eye out...

It took place on a High School "field day," and we were all forced to put our arms around people next to us in a long chain.

5 year suspension? Christ that blows.
I was suspended for 60 days and I almost went nuts. I wasnt even physically able to drive and I was going insane. I lost my license just after I got in a bad car accident and fractured my shoulder and sprained my wrist. I couldnt drive but even if I could I wouldnt have been able to cause of my injuries. I still went crazy.

Hey tart, that sucks about getting arrested, ticketed, however they handled it. Personally, I am on a 5 year suspension.

I saw a bunch of these over in the middle east. They're great. I looked into buying one here in the US, but they're not available yet. Some states have cheap gas prices. California does NOT. paying $40 a week in gas just to get to and from work, and more to drive around on the weekends, I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat. I'd really get interested if they could cross one of these with the electric hybrids.

Well, bad news everyone. Im not going to be a record breaker (AWOOOOOOGA!)
I went to the pub the other night, had a couple of pints and thought it was a good to drive home. Until some dickhead tried to race me. As I got to a roundabout, I didnt have to slow down and went across it at around 70mph. Unknown to me a pig van was sat a hidden on one side of the road. Ooops.
They breathelised(sp?) me and I was found to have 51microgrammes of alcohol in my blood which puts me slightly over the limit (16 microgrammes over) and I have court in around 2 hours to find out my fate.
I will post the results when I get back. Probably looking at a 12 month ban and a fine though.
BASTARD.
At least they let me off with dangerous driving........

I have a split view on them.
I do think they're ugly... but then called them smart, not pretty.
You can park them sideways in half a space and not jutt out and I think that is truely genius.
I saw a guy parking one in birmingham whilst I was having a drink with friends. This guy spent ages reversing in with and managed to park exactly in the middle two spaces (leaving a HUGE amount of space on both ends, but not enough for a normal car to park in). He then got out the car, made sure nobody else could park and then nearly wet himself at how funny he was.

Apollo, you live in Liverpool right? Go to the Albert docks and theres a big merc garage there. Ask to take one out for a test drive. They ask YOU how long you want it for! Take a friend and see how high you can get by jumping speed bumps round Liverpool. I record we left the ground by about 2ft in a red one.

Im so glad i live in a country where the gas is cheap enough that i dont have to drive a car like that. That is the ugliest car i have ever seen and i swear id rather drive a peice of shit plastic SATURN then WALK past that on the street. If that ever comes to America i will fucking bomb the boats importing them in or the fucking factories that make them.

Good luck with the race Tartpumper. So far it seems only 1000 people have signed up, they need to find another 200 cars if you're to be a record-breaker <blows trumpet>.
Let us know what the route will be when the website is updated and if it passes near I live I'll look out for it.
I do like Smart cars and I've been tempted to get one but the only thing that's stopped me is that when I visit my family I usually take them out in the car with me (I'm the only driver out of me, my mum and my brothers (all older than me)!) and I'd only be able to fit one passenger in the car with a Smartie so I'll probably stick to a small hatchback like what I have now (I'd love to get a Mini Cooper or a VW Beetle), or when my fiance gets a new car I'll take over his 7 series BMW, it may be large and wide but it's automatic and dead easy to drive.

I bet if ou put a big enough wing on the car and drove it off a cliff you could glide... Doesnt weigh much so I doubt that youd have any problem with weight. Maybe speed though.
Anyone know what the HP of a 600cc engine would be? Like whats the conversion?

that's a funny car. we don't have anything like that in America, so i guess that's why i say that. i need a car that wastes alot of gas and that is too big for the road. i couldn't drive an economy car.

It looks to be a Mercedes A-Class. I always thought they were wretched cars, but if they actually have fuel economy and safety, and the built-in luxury that Mercedes offers, tehn it may not be a bad investment.
