My mind wanders way too easily. Especially whenever I try to concentrate. But I guess it never gets lost. Whenever my brain calls, it's always right there. I don't know where all these thoughts came from. All I remember is that I was really tired, and someone in my head barfed out the following:

/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You are a computer"
Your memory is a googlplexabit hard drive.
You have a stereo microphone, but it's wasted on a mono speaker.
Your input comes in light waves between 400 and 700 nanometers, sound waves between 20 and 20000 hertz, physical textures, and special chemical reactions esoteric to the human body.
Your brain is a cpu, with variable speed.
Your emotion is affected by user applications.
Your mind is the System Administrator. The overseeing user.
Society is the collection of all users. The people you know logon more often.
God is the Default User, the template for all new users. Hence "made in God's own image."

Logon User="SELF" Password="10110101101101011010110110101101"
Welcome to OS-YourLife. You have 0 new messages, loser.

When people say "train of thought", I think of one of those platform-on-wheels that has a lever that you have to continuously push up and down to make it go.

I can't understand why my mind and brain run parallel. I can watch the road, but meanwhile my mind wonders when the last time I blinked was. Or why I can't remember. I look over my shoulder and change lanes. In the blurred image while I turn back I see a face crash through the windshield. Then the car in front comes back into focus. The face is gone. But I can't stop wondering: if dreams can come true, then whose nightmare is this world?

Why do bad memories last longer? Or do they just resurface easier...
Maybe that's why they're harder to lose. They relate too easily. Like a virus spreading across the internet. It shows up eveywhere. You can ignore it, but it will come back someday.

Am I staring at the screen too long? or too hard?
Or is it staring at me...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------/

I may very well have been stoned when I wrote this. But that was a long time ago. I'm really glad to have gotten that out. It cleared up a lot of room to think...not that I need it at this time of night.

As long as I'm here, I want to ask if anyone can tell me where this song (attachment) is from. I know I've heard it somewhere before...

And now..........................candy. Followed by............................sleep.

I thought this was interesting.
Scientists have done studies recently to understand why painful memories stand out more sharply in our minds. They think it's to aid our survival (i.e., don't repeat behavior that can hurt you), but they've also found that experiences we have can literally, physically re-form the brain, so it may have somthing to do with that, too.

Ha!

Bart: I'll take up smoking and give that up.

Homer: Good for you, son. Giving up smoking is one of the hardest
things you'll ever have to do. Have a dollar.
