I've commented alot on Uber and have spouted opinions and theories. I suppose it's time to show a little bit of who I am just so I can get ragged on a little more, too!
When I made my first post I mentioned that I'm a professional dancer. Modern Dancer. Most people don't know what that is. It started out as some people basically getting tired of the restraints of ballet. At first it was sort of free movement, but still very graceful (Isadora Duncan, Lois Fuller). Eventually it became more structured and codified and took on a life of its own (Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham). These days just about any movement that isn't classical ballet can fall under the umbrella of Modern Dance. There are companies that are nearly indistinguishable from classical ballet to those that are almost not even considered dance by many (MOMIX). Then there's the way-out shit that , quite frankly, I don't know much about ('happenings' 'site specific' etc). When it gets too far out I personally consider it performance art rather than dance. That's my extremely short synopsis. I'll spare the details, and for those who want to know more you can do an internet search on the names I've dropped. Or ask me. Watch out for the crap that drones on about 'demonstration of the human spirit' and the like blah blah blah
I've been training for about 17 years. I think I'm about to give it up. It's been fun, but when you're dedicated to one thing for so long you miss out on alot. Time to stop prancing around the stage and try some new things...

I'm sorry, I just can't NOT give myself a damn 2! I accept that about myself now.
Q- attack helicopter huh? Very cool! I've got allergies so everything I'd want to do in the AF is out...aw screw it. I'll just get married and have lots of babies. Yeah... ;)
PAS- Thanks! 2 or 3 times a year. I've got one opening in a week and a half. I can't wait for it to be over!

Very impressive. How often do you put on performances?

He is not overseas, if thats what you mean. He's been through OCS and is getting ready to go down to Pensacola for attack helicopter flight training.
I was thinking about joining myself a couple of years ago. I wanted sniper school, personally. But then I found out my eyesight is too bad for the Marines. That and I've a bit of a limp from being foolish when I was younger. Either one would have disqualified me.

ha...ME in a marital arts class...
I haven't looked into Marines much yet, but I hear it's not great for women. I've checked out Army and Airforce quite a bit. I won't bother with Navy because if I ever ended up stuck on a ship for months, I'd jump overboard. Ideally, I'd like to find something that doesn't require a desk. Or chair. Or four walls. And big guns are fun. Most of what I've been interested in isn't open to women. I'm taking my time to figure it out.
Is your brother off somewhere with the Marines at the moment?

**Hm..what else..martial arts would be good, too. Rockclimbing, hiking, camping. I've recently gotten addicted to taking off on weekend roadtrips.**
You should talk to Loki. She's the queen of dangerous and outdoor sports. Just be sure you don't become the victim of a misspelling in some course catalog and take a class on the marital arts.
As for the military, if you're going to do that, go hard-core and join the Marines.

Agh! I hate these ratings! Whatever I put counts and obviously I don't want to bring it down! Fine...+2 for me. Life is so hard...
haha Quartermain :p
I've been cycling for about a year, but I keep having to take several months off at a time for rehearsals. I'd like to get more into it and do some races. I've got a really nice bike, and it pisses me of to see it sitting doing nothing! I started running, too, because I suck at it. I want to do team triathlons (me on the bike, two other people running and swimming). I want to get dirty and be outside! Now when I go in the studio I feel boxed in. Hm..what else..martial arts would be good, too. Rockclimbing, hiking, camping. I've recently gotten addicted to taking off on weekend roadtrips. AGH! I've got so much to do! And I was considering Army. I know- "Don't do it!" But the idea's stuck in my head now.
Are you still in theater, Beer? What musical production was that you mentioned you did?

Isadora Duncan? Was she the dancer who in the 20s or 30s was pulled from her auto and crushed under the rear wheels when her outfit got caught?

I hate dancing. We had to work with a choreographer(sp?) for about 2 months for a play I was in. I hated dancing, but I didn't mind the singing too much.

You've been dancing for 17 years? That's a wee bit impressive. I can't dance for five minutes without someone asking me if I'm ok.
What kind of new things are you considering trying?

I like traditional ballet best. I wish I could dance. If I had money I would.
