Below is a link to a story about MR. Cruz Bustamante's sister..... I have included an excerpt for you to decide if you want to read it.
Who get's to be the one to decide when something is art?
(For those that don't know, Bustamante is Lt. Gov of CA right now and is running for Gov in the recall.)
Excerpt
One of the stops on that "bizarre journey" was her 1992 epic "Indigurrito," thus described by the San Francisco Weekly: "[S[he strapped on a burrito to her loins and called for white men to come up on stage, take a bite out of the burrito and absolve themselves of 500 years of the white man's guilt." The paper adds, "There was no shortage of ennobled participants, who knelt in front of the protruding offering, some taking delicate bites, others deep-throated chunks."

No, it's not art. It's a desperate cry for attention from an insecure neurotic, is what it is.
As for this: **Or is it the typical, over-the-top, reactionary republican response kicking in? You know...find all the incriminating evidence on a politician's aunt's cousin's dog's dentist and obliquely connect it to the invidual up for election?**
That's it exactly. Because, you know, Republicans are the ONLY ones who have EVER run a negative ad and/or campaign in the ENTIRE history of politics.
Assclown.

Oh. Whoops. I hardly pay attention to the category. I'm -1'ing it to cancel out my +1. It doesn't deserve a -2, but I gotta fine you for putting it in the wrong place.

PS
i think part of the reason some are reading a political meaning to this post (below comments on bustimante) is because you put it in the politics catagory.
go figure...

It doesn't seem to me that the poster is actually attacking Bustamante, but instead asking what art is. If I'm wrong, then shame on you. If I'm right, it's kind of like pornography. Some member of the Supreme Court was unable to define pornography, but said that he or she would know it when he or she saw it. Such is the case with art. Art is subjective. Few questions could be more subjective, but one is possibley, "What is good art?". Is Ms. Bustamante's art (if it is in fact art) good? It doesn't seem so to me. But is it art? Sure, why not? I consider stand-up comedians artists, but I may be in the minority. I find entertainment to be a form of art. Or at least, I find that SOME entertainment is a form of art. Whatever. One man's art is another man's trash and any debate on the matter would more than likely only frustrate and confused the unsure.

Funny thing about art is that if you call it art, then it is art. Now weather it is 'good' art or not is an entirly different matter.
But to be honest the whole 'is this art' question was at its peak durring the Dada movement and Marcel Duchamps 'urinal'

thats my 2 cents as a person with an art degree.

First of all....it has nothing to do with Cruz. I voted for him, so it's nothing about bashing him. The fact that this woman is his sister is what got her in the paper, and as far as I can see that is why this is considered art.
To me this is not art...that is why I posted it.

Why the hell do we care about Bustamante's sister? Is there something I'm missing here? Or is it the typical, over-the-top, reactionary republican response kicking in? You know...find all the incriminating evidence on a politician's aunt's cousin's dog's dentist and obliquely connect it to the invidual up for election?
This is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is that it's being reported on.
Please, go out, grind up some glass, put it in a burrito, and enjoy the last few days of your pitiful existence. Oh...and don't post again.

I don't think this necessarily means anything about Cruz. Sometimes one member of an otherwise normal family just turns out funky. I mean, look at LaToya Jackson, she's obviously a mess, but her brothers are all just fine.
