This whole week has been like that...in bio lab we were analysed specific 92-gene DNA sequences through BLAST in the GenBank to find % homology to a Rhesus monkey or the golden lion tamarin. (Because...ooo...any evidence of the endangered Leontopithecus rosalie DNA in "our" lab would constitute and violation of federal statutes) My TA didn't know what a Rhesus monkey looked like so I got to go online and show her. And we talked about monkeys and how cool they were. And how their little hands were so cute.

Wooooooo! I used this pic in my powerpoint presentation on action research and non-native invasive species in the Chesapeake Bay!!! It was the questions slide at the end, and it got a good laugh! No...they say they just want me to try my best. I never got anything less than an A in high school, so they never had to say anything about my grades before. Even now, they say they just want me to be happy, but I know my dad is worried I am gonna lose my scholarship or drop out or have a nervious breakdown...even though I've never done anything even remotely bad before. I mean, I got two C's last semester, which is dissappointing, but you think they'd have for faith in me. I guess me hating college and losing weight and changing medications five times in a year and generally wanting to get hit by a bus isn't the best evidence to support otherwise...

i think you could get away with it one more time...and i think the second one is really funny. it would really throw your audience off to get a real recipe and throw in weird comments.
as for your dogs, that is really cool. i've always wanted a REAL dog. but we have too many animals as it is...an african gray parrot (he talks as well as a little kid, he is so freaking smart its scary), a cockatiel, a quacker parakeet (he's a total bastard, he always wants to be the loudest in the room and he mocks everyone and says what? what?), and of course, my three kitty bitties who i love. luna, el guapo, and pancho.
we've had more in the past...i couldn't even name them.
i've always hand-raised baby cockatiels. it is so wonderful to watch them grow from desprate, hungry, chirping little fuzzballs begging for more seed-mush to loving, wonderful companions. the one i have now is really old, i took her in because no one wanted her...she is very skittish. i don't know if i could raise anymore. my last baby, cricket, died in my hands and i've never gotten over it. he was only a few years old, i don't know why he had to leave me. he was so wonderful, you don't know. i hope to god it wasn't my fault.
i'm wearing green khaki cargo pants and a really cute striped shirt with poofy sleeves. i look really cute today.

I never saw the point in owning a lapdog... well, I mean I see the point, but it was just a rather pointless point... you get....... what I'm saying? (you thought I was gonna say point, didn't you. HA! got ya.) Neos (Neapolitan Mastiffs) are the coolest dogs I know. they LOVE gettin high. this litter she had 10 pups but we lost one. I'm going to keep one pup, the only Tawney, to be a momma in a year or so, hoping for lots of tawney pups out of her, they are a very rare color for Neos, and neos are very rare dogs. Alexander the Great used the ancestors of the Neapolitan Mastiff as his war dogs, they would suit them up and they would fight with the men. ever seen Gladiator? that dog of maximus was a pussy, lol. im in the part of being high that is very sleepy. i am sleepy and rambling, sorry. Tina's Marsh'mellow' Surprise
1027 Rainbow and 1026 Heart Lucky Charms Marshmallows, a few ounces of Yes' Special Herbs, water, 1 can of Coke, a friend and a big fucking chunk of cheese
First roll a fattie and puff tough. Repeat as needed until you can't feel your feet. Next, drink the Coke, cause you'll have some wicked cotton mouth. Take a nap. Get up, eat the marshmallows... um... eat the cheese... then, uh, smoke some more. Um... what are we doing?
Uh, there.
Mean Creme Brulee
2 1/2 cups heavy cream, 4 large egg yolks (well beaten), 1/3 cup superfine sugar, 1 Rabid Mongoose and Some Cheese
First, bring the cream to a boil, and boil for about 30 seconds. Pour it immediately into the egg yolks and whisk them together. Add the mongoose. Return the mixture to the pan and continue cooking without allowing it to boil. Taunt the mongoose with the cheese. If it gets out of line, wack it on the head. Stir the mixture until it thickens and coats the spoon. Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish. Refrigerate overnight.
Two hours before the meal, sprinkle the chilled cream with the sugar and any mongoose that might be left over. in an even layer and place it under a broiler preheated to the maximum temperature. The sugar will caramelize to a sheet of brown smoothness. You may need to turn the dish in the grill to achieve an even effect. It is important that this step be done very quickly in order to keep the custard cold and firm and the top crisp and brown. There.
the 2nd one i thought it would be funny to take a real one and just throw a little something in there... but it doesn't seem funny to me at all... your thoughts?

And how did it go? My lab report was a five-page stinking pile of shit. I missed bio lecture and ended up going to my doctor at Walter Reed who suggested...ANOTHER MEDICATION CHANGE! La dee fucking da! I come in complaining of fucking withdrawl symptoms when I can't take my meds and he suggests more!!!

Here's some friendly advice regarding your choice of major. In today's shitty ass economy, you're better off majoring in something you can use. Business, Computer Science, Accounting...those jobs suck, but at least you won't have to move across country id you ever find yourself out of a job.

For chemistry I had to monitor the dissociation of salicylic acid, and now I have to relate the degree of dissociation to its pKa. I just finished determining the equilibrium constant for the formation of the iron complex FeSCN 2+, but it took me all morning. It not hard, but it's really time-consuming stuff. I have a quiz Thursday on something....yikes, better find out.
For biology, I have to write up my photopigmentation lab. I actually enjoyed this one--we got to use thin layer chromatogaphy (and then the spectrophotometer) to determine what type of light would most effectively be absorbed by spinach. There is a test next week on metabolism--glycolysis, pyruvate to Acetal CoA and Kreb cycle. I am so not ready.
Then for my art history of the Far East class I have to write a paper comparing/contrasting the influence of Taoism and Confusionism in early Chinese painting. And of course study for the midterm.
Now that I see it all written down I realize how unsure I am about staying pre-med....I think I am a lazy girl at heart...I just can't indulge at the moment...

I'm looking for at least few acres with a house on it, room for a good sized garden a few fruit trees maybe. Room for good sized runs. I breed Neapolitan Mastiffs and Greate Danes. I think I want this to be the place I live for the rest of my days (geeze, I am the oldest 26 year old I know...) I would love to get a few 100 acres and build houses for my sister, mom and anyone else that wants to retire with me. I'd like to raise horses and keep cattle/pigs/chickens/whatnot too. I have a friend who is a rancher in northern Nevada who would be willing to move onto my ranch and run the livestock. But, eh, we'll see what fate puts in my path. If I can get a good deal on some plain land I'd be willing to buy and build a log cabin kit or maybe an A-frame. Who knows? I'm keeping my options open right now. Well, gotta go pretend to work... That sounds exciting. My family has had to do that a lot. I don't really like the one my parents ended up picking. I like the area...just not the house. I think I just didn't want to move anymore. Are you looking for actual ranches, or ranch-style houses? I live in a ranch-style house. (Well, not now, now I am on campus.) I am not used to one story, but it has its advantages. What kind of dogs do you have?

I was born and raised in Las Vegas NV, until I was 14, then I moved to Tunisia, then Uruguay two years later, then back to Vegas, and have been living and working here for the last few years. I love Pina Coladas and the rain kicks ass. Thunder storms are bitchin'. The ocean is awesome too, haven't been able to get down to it as much as I would like, but I am moving to Cali in the next few months, so I should be able to get to it then. And I like to sip some bubbly whenever an occasion arises.
